enerally, when people think of giving, they often think of current gifts of cash or perhaps even gifts of stock. Planned gifts are a very important source of current and future philanthropic support for the diocese and its parishes and Catholic schools. GIn order to honor and recognize donors who have made be- quests, charitable gift annuities and beneficiary designations, The Catholic Foundation has created the Our Lady of the As- sumption Legacy Society. Please contact The Catholic Founda- tion if you have already made a planned gift or are considering making a planned gift to benefit the diocese.

WAYS TO GIVE

CASH OR STOCK MEMORIAL GIFT Making a memorial gift to a charitable organization honors an individual who was admired, loved and respected. Your gift is a lasting tribute to the important part that he or she played in your life and the church. It can establish a permanent link with the past and encourage others to participate in a vision for the future. BEQUEST A charitable bequest is simply a distribution from your estate to a charitable organization through your last will and testament. There are different kinds of bequests: general bequest, specific bequest and residuary bequest. For each, you must use very specific language to indicate the precise direction of your assets in order to successfully carry out your final wishes. Be careful not to restrict the gift in such a way that it could become difficult to be used. CHARITABLE GIFT ANNUITY Of all the gifts that pay you back, the charitable gift annuity is the simplest, most affordable and most popular. You make a gift to The Catholic Foundation and, in return, we agree to make fixed payments to you for life. gh Diocesan Evangelization Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, You have commanded us to make disciples of all nations. Therefore, we ask you to send your Holy Spirit, to make us your instruments in this divine work. Enlighten us by your Word, and strengthen us by your Sacraments so our minds and our hearts may be transformed. May the manner in which we live our lives announce the love and mercy you extend to all people. Permit the Spirit to cause a holy zeal to rise up in us for the work of evangelization to which you call us. Set our hearts on fire to bring others to you and to the Church which you founded out of love for all. Deepen our knowledge and understanding of the teachings of your Church, and guide us with your wisdom in passing on the faith. Allow the gift of right judgment to show us when to listen and when to speak your Word. Give us the courage to proclaim the Gospel even when faced with adversity. May we help others to live life to the full through you and to experience the glory of your kingdom. We entrust our evangelization efforts to the protection of our diocesan patroness, Mary, Our Lady of the Assumption, as we make this prayer to you, and the Father, and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
