A ‘ZO’MECOMING FOR BEN--Ben Zobrist spent the first nine seasons of his big league career wearing the uniform of the Tampa Bay Rays and tonight he dresses in the visiting clubhouse for the first time...acquired by the Royals on July 28 from the Athletics, Zobrist was on the disabled list with a left knee injury when Oakland visited St. Pete in late-May...the versatile switch-hitter had a pair of hits yesterday as the DH vs. Baltimore and is now batting .330 (31-for-94) in 26 games as a Royal... he has been most impressive when playing in Kauffman Stadium, hitting .429 (18-for-42) in 13 games in his new home, while reaching base at a .571 clip with 14 walks to go with his 18 hits. SNOWMEN IN THE SUMMER--Both Mike Moustakas and Alex Rios enter this visit to The Trop riding individual 8-game hitting streaks in which each are pushing the .500 mark during the skeins...each had three hits in yesterday’s with over the Orioles, with Moose now hitting .452 (14-for-31) in his 8-gamer and Rios hammering the ball at a .483 clip (14-for-29) in his streak...Moustakas has four doubles and four home runs among his 14 hits during the streak, while driving in 12 runs, including 11 RBI in his last five games...Rios has three doubles and a triple during his streak while raising his season average 25 points to .257.
