Europe with Three Kids -The adventures of an Old Ottawa South family By Michaela Tokarski

Have you ever contemplated traveling with your three kids? We did. And then we laughed. Some days are hard enough at home, why would we complicate things by going abroad? Why would we spend money on a trip they likely aren’t old enough to remember? How would the children adjust to being away? How could my small business function while I was away? Would all the clients we’ve worked so hard to find leave us? Could my husband get time off work? Would pulling the kids out of school impact their educations? Where would we go? How would we pay for it? Who would take care of our house? There seemed to be a million reasons not to go, and yet I had this nagging voice inside my head and it kept getting louder – You should do this... Now! And in one of those remarkable moments of alignment, my husband seemed to have the same little voice pestering him (and no it wasn’t just mine). So we started planning a trip. I looked through my company’s financials for months that are typically a bit slower, and discovered that June and February have consistently were impossible to pass up – especially enough to come home if it proved we learned to plan activities that the lower sales. Local Photographer Tom Alföldi goes scuba diving in Hawaii Photo taken by Tom Alföldi in early December off the coast of Kona, Hawaii while scuba diving. The photo was taken with a Nikon D7000 in an Ikelite underwater housing.

The photo of the manta ray was taken during a night dive. Plankton were attracted to the lights used by the divers, which in turn attracted the manta rays. There were seven such mantas, all quite big, with “wing” spans of twelve feet or more. They would swoop down at the divers, trying to grab as much plankton as possible, and in the process bumping into the divers, the cameras and each other.

A Flurry of Snowy Reads! James Howe gives early readers a story of the first snow of winter in Houndsley and Catina and the Quiet Time. Houndsley is very happy, he loves the quiet time. Catina is impatient: she doesn’t enjoy being snowed in. What about all her plans for the day? What if their evening concert has to be canceled? With a bit of pretending, a few books and board games, a flourish of creativity, and some time to dream, Houndsley helps Catina let go of her worries and enjoy the snowy day, wherever it might take them.
