Chittoor to Thatchur Road Section

Development of Chittoor to Thatchur Section in the state of and Tamil Nadu From Design Ch. 0+00 to Ch. Km 126+550 of newly declared NH-716 by M/s National Highways Authority of India. SALIENT FEATURES  The Chittoor to Thatchur Section (Newly declared NH 716) is proposed 6-lane highway having a total length of 126.550 Km in the states Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.  The project stretch traverses the Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu at following locations: - 0+000 to 38+800 –In Andhra Pradesh - 38+800 to 55+500 –In Tamil Nadu - 55+500 to 91+700 –In Andhra Pradesh - 91+700 to 126+550 –In Tamil Nadu  The Project start (Ch. 0+00) from junction of proposed Bangalore-Chennai expressway (Ch. 152+100) near Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh  It passes through 2 district namely in Andhra Pradesh and Tiruvallur district in Tamil Nadu. The proposed road starts at Ch.0.000 (Km 152+000 of Proposed Bangalore-Chennai Expressway) and intersect Ch. 3+465 (Existing NH-4 (Vellore Road)), Ch. 44+558 (SH-108), Ch. 60+383 (NH-205/716), Ch. 66+886 (Nalathur Road), Km 95+507(SH-50), Km 112+672 (SH-50A), Km 116+518(Ngalapuram Road / Road), Ch. 124+676 (NH-5)  The Land use pattern within 10 km on either side of project area is predominantly barren followed by agricultural, barren and settlement area.  There are 25 Major built-up areas along the alignment, namely, Mapakshi, Chittoor, Lakshmambapuram, Gollapalle, Arathala, G D Nellore, Vepanjeri, Kalepalle, Vinjam, Suparvarajapuram, Sindhurajapuram, Venkatarajapuram, Perumanullur, Karimbedu, Melapattu, Nagari, Padiri, Nindra, Pulipadu, Puducheri, Uttukkotai, Palavakkam, Periyapalayam, Kannigaipair, and Thatchur.  The proposed right of way for the Greenfield alignment is considered as 70m, throughout the corridor.  27 pond/check dams falls along the project road. Few are directly getting impacted due to proposed development for which enhancement, relocation of ground/surface water sources and provision of retaining walls in the periphery of the pond shall be proposed for effective conservation of water.  The proposed land acquisition for the alignment is approx. 885.5ha. i.e. approx. 525 ha in Andhra Pradesh and 360.5ha. in Tamil Nadu.  The proposed road will have 10 nos. of Major Bridges, 33 nos. of Minor Bridges, 2 nos. of ROB’s, 79nos. of Vehicular Underpasses, and 8 nos. of Interchanges.  Safety measures will be provided as per NHAI Safety Manual and IRC: SP 88, safety measures and MoRTH guidelines in this regard.  The project road crosses river Ponnai at Ch. 14+500, Nagari River at Ch. 65+700 and Aranai river at 2 location at Ch. 100+200 and Ch. 109+000  As per initial assessment, it is anticipated that on an average about 150 to 200 trees are likely to be affected per km. The detailed assessment of actual trees to be affected (tree inventories) on the finalized alignment will be undertaken during detailed EIA Study and the preparation of Forest Clearance proposals as per FC (Act) 1980, and the subsequent amendments thereafter.  Efforts will be made to minimize trees loss by restricting tree cutting within formation width. Avenue plantation shall be carried out as per IRC SP: 21:2009 on available ROW apart from statutory requirements.

 Material requirement are aggregate (40.15 lakh cum), Bitumen (0.70 Lakh Ton.), Earth (112.14 Lakh cum), Sand (13.17 Lakh Cum), Steel (0.66 Tonnes), Cement (2.66 Lakh Ton).  Fly ash will be used in the project depending upon their availability as per existing fly ash notification.  The total requirement of water for construction is estimated to approx. 2,996,711 KL for 2 years.  The total estimated cost of the project is Approx. INR 3197.56 Crores
