Career Achievement Award Tim Bevan and ()

The Zurich Film Festival honours Working Title Films (Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner) with a retrospective. Founder Tim Bevan will receive the Golden Eye at ZFF on October 2nd.

This year’s Zurich Film Festival Career Achievement Award goes to the producers Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of the British production company Working Title Films. Born 1958 in New Zealand, co-founder Tim Bevan will accept the award on behalf of his remarkably productive creative workshop, which has been responsible for numerous internationally acclaimed British cinema productions over the past several years.

The company’s philosophy is based on the insight that box-office success and exceptional quality standards are not mutually exclusive. The result of this business policy is sustainable commercial success and an artistic reputation that many competitors can only dream of. Working Title Films’ achievements include over 100 productions grossing more than 6 billion dollars worldwide and reaping over 250 Oscar, BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations.

The ZFF presents a comprehensive retrospective of 12 Working Title Films productions: MY BEAUTIFUL LAUNDRETTE (Stephen Frears/1985), FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL (Mike Newell/1994), FARGO (Joel Coen, Ethan Coen/1996), ELIZABETH (Shekhar Kapur/1998), (Joel Coen, Ethan Coen/1998), NOTTING HILL (Roger Michell/1999), HIGH FIDELITY (Stephen Frears/2000), ABOUT A BOY (Chris Weitz, Paul Weitz/2002), ATONEMENT (Joe Wright/2007), FROST/NIXON (Ron Howard/2008), A SERIOUS MAN (Ethan Coen, Joel Coen/2009) and SENNA (Asif Kapadia/2010).

Further memorable Working Title Films productions include: DEAD MAN WALKING (Tim Robbins/1995), (Stephen Daldry/2000), (Richard Curtis/2003), JOHNNY ENGLISH (Peter Howitt/2003), THE INTERPRETER (Sydney Pollack/2005), PRIDE & PREJUDICE (Joe Wright/2005), SMOKIN’ ACES (Joe Carnahan/2007), GREEN ZONE (Paul Greengrass/2010), ANNA KARENINA (Joe Wright/2012) and TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY (/2011).

Working Title Films contributes two further productions to this year’s Zurich Film Festival, the first is the highly anticipated Opening Film RUSH by Ron Howard, the second is ABOUT TIME by Richard Curtis, which will be screened in cinema corso 1 after the awarding of the Golden Eye to Tim Bevan on October 2nd.

Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, co-chair of the company since 1992, have also received the industry’s highest accolades as individuals: Both are recipients of the David O. Selznick Achievement Award, the Producers Guild of America’s highest honour, and three of the highest awards given to British filmmakers. The two are also Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
