A. That the City Council designate the unnumbered location situated one sidewalk square southerly of and between numbered locations 24J and 25j as shown on Sheet 18 of Plan D-13788 for the for the installation of the name of Penelope Cruz at 6834 .

B. Inform the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce of the Council's action on this matter.

C. That this report be adopted prior to the date ofthe ceremony on March 28, 2011.

DISCUSSION:

The Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has submitted a request for insertion into the Hollywood Walk of Fame the name of Penelope Cruz. The ceremony is scheduled for Monday, March 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.

The communicant's request is in accordance with City Council action of October 18, 1978, under Council File No. 78-3949. Following the Council's action of approval, and upon proper application and payment of the required fee, an installation permit can be secured at 201 N. Figueroa Street, 3rd Floor, Counter 23".

Academy Award=-wtnner PENELOPE CRUZ (Angelica) has proven herself to be one of the most versatile young actresses by playing a variety of compelling characters, and most recently, becoming the first actress from to be nominated and win an Oscar".

First introduced to American audiences in the Spanish "Jarnon, Jamon" and "Belle

Epoque," in 1998 she starred in her first English language , "The Hi-Lo Country" for director

Stephen Frears opposite Woody Harrelson, and Billy Crudup. In 1999, Cruz won the Best Actress award at the 13th Annual given by the Spanish Academy of

Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences for her role in 's "."

Confirming her status as Spain's hottest international actress, Cruz landed a series of coveted roles. She appeared in 's "All the Pretty Horses," Fina Torres' "Woman on

Top," Alejandro Amenabar's "Open Your Eyes," Maria Ripoli's "Twice Upon a Yesterday" and
