Eastern Shore Sun December 2019 7 Community News Safety fi rst for local dirt bikers LOCAL dirt bikers now enjoy increased oppor- tunities for safe and legal riding in Clarence thanks to the hard work of the Trail Bike Working Group and the generosity of Cambridge Moto. The working group, coordinated by Clarence City Council, includes members from the neigh- bourhood centres, local Members of Parliament, Motorcycling Tasmania, Mission Australia Hous- ing, Tasmania and Cambridge Moto. Together, they have created opportunities and shared information about riding safely and legally in Clarence. The group held a number of successful Come and Try days in October, which provided a valuable opportunity to divert riders from illegal riding by facilitating connection to the riding community in Clarence. 14 Eastern Shore Sun December 2019 Community News Tasmanian company lends a hand to special-needs students FAMILY-OWNED Tasmanian company Hazell Bros has helped improve the lives of students at Southern Support School by voluntarily contributing resources and labour to install specialised playground equipment and enhance the school’s facilities. Southern Support School is a dedicated spe- cial education school for 96 students who live with a range of disabilities and mobility issues. Hazell Bros catered for the special needs of students by installing a level-to-ground trampo- line with wheelchair access, a roundabout swing in the junior playground and doing restorative work on the back car park. “We are the only resource like this in the south of Tasmania, so it’s very important for our students to have access to what they need to do their learning,” Southern Support School principal Simon Ellaby said. Hazell Bros fi nance manager Paul Sheen said about 15 employees helped with the improvements. “Every kid needs an opportunity to go to school, an opportunity to play, so the kids that go to this school certainly needed a safe envi- ronment to play in where they could actually access equipment,” he said. “The fact we could dig this trampoline into the ground so they could access it out of the wheelchair is something very special.” BEST BUYS Hazell Bros managing director Geoffrey BEST BUYS From left , Southern Support 1000W COLUMN FORGET CITY TRAVEL FITTED SINGLE School principal Simon Ellaby, Hazell said the company liked spending time in HEATERS ELECTRIC students Darcy Cordwell and the community.
