WICB ITHACA OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES
WICB (WICB Ithaca, the “Station”) frequently provides contest opportunities to its listeners.
By participating in contests on WICB, each participant agrees to the official contest rules.
These rules will also be posted on the WICB website, but participants are bound by the official copy on file in the WICB office (118 Park Hall, Ithaca College, Ithaca, NY 14850).
1. ELIGIBILITY FOR PARTICIPATION
1.1 Residential Status. Participants and winners must be a resident of the United States
in one of the 50 states.
1.2 Age Limitation. Participants must be 18 years or older at time of entry.
1.3 Entrant Limitations. For each contest held by the Station:
(a) Only one (1) entry per person.
(b) Only one (1) prize per person:
(i) Within any thirty (30) days for values under $100.
(ii) Within any one (1) year for values exceeding $100.
(c) Staff members of the Station, related media outlets, staff or faculty members
of Ithaca College, and the immediate family members of the aforementioned
entities are ineligible to participate in or win any contests held by the Station,
where the immediate family includes their spouses, siblings, parents,
children, grandparents, and grandchildren.
(d) Former staff members must not have worked at the Station for a minimum of
one (1) year in order to be eligible to win. 1.4 Multiple entries. A participant who enters through multiple occasions and/or through
irregular entries may be disqualified at the sole discretion of the Station.
1.5 Related notes. No purchase necessary is required for participation in contests of the
Station. Contest participation void where prohibited.
2. PRIZES FOR CONTESTS
2.1 Limitation of Prizes. The prizes awarded for a given contest are not:
(a) Transferrable,
(b) Able to be redeemed for cash money, or
(c) Able to be exchanged for another prize.
2.2 Prize Redemption. Prizes for a contest must be redeemed within thirty (30) days of
that contest, unless otherwise determined by the nature of a contest.
(a) For prizes that are time sensitive, including but not limited to shows or trips,
the winners must be available during the time allotted for the prize awarded
for the contest.
(b) The Station reserves the right to determine an alternate winner or refuse to
award that winner’s prize if winners:
(i) Are unable to redeem their prize,
(ii) Are unable to be contacted within 3 business days of the contest, or
(iii) Are disqualified for any reason.
3. CONDUCT AND DECISIONS.
3.1 Conduct According to Participation. Participants agree to be bound by the decisions
of the Station and its Staff. Inappropriate, disruptive, or threatening behavior is
prohibited in the participation of a contest.
3.2 Disqualification According to Misconduct. Participants who violate contest rules, gain
unfair advantage in participating, or win by unlawful or fraudulent means will be
immediately disqualified.
3.3 Decisions of the Station. Decisions from the Station will be final. Participants waive
their right to hold the Station liable for human error due to the outcome of a contest.
4. DISCLAIMERS
4.1 Dissemination of Information.
(a) Contests are often held that require the use of a telephone device. The
Station reserves the right to disclaim any liability due to any form of
malfunction in telephone service, including but not limited to:
(i) Loss of service or reception
(ii) Garbled communication or general miscommunication
(iii) Malfunction of physical equipment
(iv) Inability to contact the station due to phone line traffic
(v) Any other failures on any level of mechanical, technical, electronic,
hardware, or software errors (b) The Station may use the mail service for the delivery of items. The Station
reserves the right to disclaim any liability due to any complication in the mail
service, including but not limited to:
(i) Delays in the participant’s reception of items sent in the mail service
(ii) Misdelivery in items sent in the mail service
(iii) Loss or failure in delivery of items sent in the mail service
5. TAXES
5.1 Value of Prizes. The value of a prize from a given contest will be provided to the
participants upon request and to the winner upon award. This value may be
considered income, and reporting this value for tax purposes as required by law is
the sole responsibility of the winner.
5.2 Identification of Winner. Before a prize is awarded to a winner, identification
information will be recorded including but not limited to:
(a) Address
(b) Telephone Number
(c) Full Legal Name
(d) Email address
6. RELEASE
When a participant enters in any contest offered by the Station, they waive any and
all claims of liability against the Station, its Staff members, contest sponsors and
their employees for personal injury or loss that may have resulted through
participation in the contest or its prize.
7. MISCELLANEOUS
7.1 Odds. The odds of winning a contest will depend on the number of entrants.
7.2 Proof of Eligibility. Upon the awarding of a prize, the winner must provide proof of
eligibility to the Station.
8. COMPLIANCE WITH LAW
8.1 Contest Conduct. The conduct of a contest hosted by the Station is governed by
applicable laws of the United States of America, which take precedence over the
binding rules of this contract.
8.2 Station Compliance. The Station will comply with all applicable laws.
