big-eared bat (Corynorhinus townsendii townsendii) rather than the pale Townsend’s big-eared bat (Piaggio and Perkins 2005). The bats recorded along the lower Colorado River will be referred to as pale Townsend’s big-eared bats in this report, as the nomenclature change has not yet been verified by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Piaggio, A.J. and S.L. Perkins. 2005. Molecular phylogeny of North American long-eared bats (Vespertilionidae: Corynorhinus); inter- and intraspecific relationships inferred from mitochondrial and nuclear DNA sequences.
