(913) 710-2830 www.holyangelsbasehor.org April 5, 2020• Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion +Pax+ Dear Parishioners and Friends of Holy Angels, We begin this Holy Week in what for each of us are unparalleled times. Hence, we have before us an unprecedented Holy Week of fasting from Holy Communion and from being present at Mass and liturgies. How truly bizarre! We take in, via electronic media, familiar liturgies made unfamiliar by rites stripped to the bare essentials. In addition, these rites are permitted to be done by only one man, the celebrant, without Masters of Ceremonies, servers and the trappings as- sociated with liturgy. Our churches stand empty of palm and floral decor, naves sit void of congregations, and priests cele- brate liturgies without their parish families present. We recognize it is still Holy Week to which our hearts are drawn. We hope from our continued protracted Lenten sacrifices that the Passion of the Christ and our renewed devotion to it moves our soul and stirs our minds. This period of trial does S T R E T C H our personal and family devotion making us aware of how strong or lacking our own individual and household prayer lives are. Have we ourselves prayed the Stations of the Cross, meditated on the Sorrowful Mysteries of Our Lord’s Passion on our ro- sary beads, meditated on the four Gospel passages of the Passion? This is THE week to do all of that . . . and more!
