It is the largest school district, in area, in the state of New Jersey. It also serves students from Green Bank and Port Republic. The district operates three comprehensive high schools: Absegami, Cedar Creek and Oakcrest. The district has a population of over 72,000 people and is located in Atlantic County – approximately 12 miles west of Atlantic City and a sixty minute drive from Philadelphia. The area is semi-rural with agriculture and light industry.

THE HIGH SCHOOL Oakcrest is located on a 110 acre wooded tract in Mays Landing, Hamilton Township. The total student population Unweighted GPA is 1000. The number of credits required for graduation is 120, and students must maintain a good attendance record Grade Conversion Scale in order to be eligible for graduation. Numerical grades may be converted to letter grade and/or a 4.0 scale using the chart provided. A 63 – 66 D 1.0 student’s unweighted GPA will range from 50-100. Prior to the 2015-2016 school year, an honors course received 5 points and an AP course received 10 points for the weighted average. Beginning with the 2015-2016 school year, a weighted 60 – 62 D- 0.7 GPA is calculated by adding 10 percent to the final grade of an Honors course and 20 percent to the final grade of an AP 59/below F 0 course. CURRICULUM akcrest High School students have an eight period rotating-drop schedule. Each school day students meet for six, fifty-eight minute class periods. A student's program is individualized with emphasis on aptitude, interest, and career goals. There are a variety of electives that meet the student's educational and vocational needs. Courses are available in the following areas: Applied Technology, Art, Business, ELL, English, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health and Wellness, OMathematics, Media, Music, Performing Arts, Science, Social Studies, Special Education and World Language. To receive an Oakcrest High School diploma, the class of 2018 must pass a NJ State Mandated Assessment and earn a minimum of 120 credits including: four years of English; one year of World History; two years of United States History; three years of Mathematics; three years of Science; one year of World Languages; one year of Career Education & Consumer, Family, and Life Skills (CFLS); one semester of Financial Literacy; one year of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA); and one year of Health & Physical Education for each year a student is in attendance at Oakcrest High School.

Students also have the opportunity to earn Dual Credit from Stockton University and Atlantic Cape Community College (ACCC) in a variety of courses. .

ADVANCED PLACEMENT PROGRAM - DISTRIBUTION OF 2018 AP TEST RESULTS AP courses are offered in sophomore, junior and senior years. Eligibility requirements include prerequisite courses, grades, and/or teacher recommendation. In May 2018, 145 students sat for 328 exams in 14 subjects. This represents an increase of 30% of the students sitting for an AP exam and a 44% increase in the total number exams taken compared to the May 2017 AP scores. 25% of the scores were a three or above.
