• Some colleges returned surveys that contained discrepancies leading to mathematically impossible immunization rates. When possible, we work with colleges to resolve data discrepancies. Colleges where rates were withheld due to unresolved discrepancies are indicated (¶).

• Data are primarily collected in the fall, but immunization data are often updated throughout the year and rates (during the same school year) may be higher than reported due to additional students receiving immunizations or bringing records to school. Also, the student body is dynamic and as students arrive and leave school, the immunization rates are impacted.

• Students are allowed a medical or religious exemption to one or more vaccines. • Students without the required number of doses of vaccine do not necessarily have an exemption on file.

• Students without a record of vaccination, but with serologic proof of immunity to certain diseases (measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis b and varicella), meet school entry requirements, and may be counted as vaccinated.

• Rates for vaccines are rounded to the nearest percentage point and may slightly under- or overestimate true immunization rates.

Data Definitions: * Indicates college did not respond to the survey.

§ Indicates college did not report any full time students 21 years of age or younger.

Indicates college reported fewer than 30 full time students 21 years of age or younger so † data cannot be released. Indicates college returned survey however, due to data discrepancies, immunization and ¶ exemption rates are not available at this time.

1 dose MenACWY (formerly MCV4) required for all full-time students 21 years of age or younger. The dose of MenACWY vaccine must have been received on or after the Received Vaccine student’s 16th birthday. Doses received at younger ages do not count towards this requirement.

Students may submit a signed waiver in lieu of vaccination documentation after Signed Waiver receiving and reviewing information about the risks of meningococcal disease.

Notes • All data are self-reported by college and discrepancies may exist. The Immunization Division continues to work with colleges to resolve discrepancies and update immunization data, when possible.

• Not all colleges return their survey. Colleges without data due to non-response are indicated (*). • Not all colleges have full time students 21 years of age or younger currently enrolled. Colleges that reported not having these students are indicated (§).

14 Massachusetts College Immunization Survey Results 2018-19 Meningococcal Vaccination - Residential Students RECEIVED SIGNED SCHOOL NAME CITY VACCINE WAIVER • Some colleges returned surveys that contained discrepancies leading to mathematically impossible immunization rates. When possible, we work with colleges to resolve data discrepancies. Colleges where rates were withheld due to unresolved discrepancies are indicated (¶). • Many colleges maintain information on students who signed a waiver, even after that student submits documentation of immunization at a later date. As such, rates of students with a signed waiver may not reflect the current number of students with a waiver and no documentation of meningococcal vaccine.

• Data are primarily collected in the fall, but immunization data are often updated throughout the year and rates (during the same school year) may be higher than reported due to additional students receiving immunizations or bringing records to school. Also, the student body is dynamic and as students arrive and leave school, the immunization rates are impacted.

• Students are allowed a medical or religious exemption to meningococcal vaccine - these data are not presented here.

• Students without the required number of doses of vaccine do not necessarily have an exemption on file.

• Rates for vaccines are rounded to the nearest percentage point and may slightly under- or overestimate true immunization rates.
