Government Notice No. 1341 THE CONSTITUTION OF MID-WESTERN NIGERIA AS MODIFIED BY THE CONSTITUTION (SUSPENSION AND MoptFIcaTion) DEcREE 1966

By His Excellency Major-General Yaxusu Gowon, Head of the Federal Military Government, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Major-Gensran Y. Gowon, Head of the Federal Military Government, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Wuergas by section 48 (2) of the Constitution of Mid-Western State of Nigeria as modified by. the: Constitution (Suspension and Modification) Decree 1966,it is provided that the Judges of the High Court of the State shall be the Chief Justice of the High Court of the State and any such numberof other Judges (not being less than six) as may be prescribed by law : oo AND WHEREAS bysection 49 (3) of the Constitution of Mid-Western State of Nigeria modified as aforesaid it is provided that if the office of Chief Justice of the High Court of the State is vacant or if the person holding the office is for any reason unable to perform the functionsof his office then until a person has been appointed to and has assumed the functions of that office or until the person holding the office has resumed those functions, as the case may be, those functions shall be performed by such one of the other Judges of the High Court of the State as may from time to time be designated in that behalf by the Supreme Military Council, acting after consultation with the Advisory Judicial Committee : Now THEREFORE, THE SUPREME Mitirary Council, acting after consultation with the Advisory Judicial Committee do hereby appoint Mr Justice ANDREWs.OTUTU OBASEKI to act as Chief Justice of the High Court of Mid-Western State of Nigeria with effect from 21st April 1970.- bt GIveEN under my hand and the Public Seal of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at Lagos, this 20th day of August, One thousand nine hundred and seventy.
