2016 DISZNÓKŐ TOKAJI DRY

Grape variety 100 % Furmint

Vintage 2016 A giving powerful with fresh acidity. The vegetative season was wet but the grapes ripened nicely nonetheless, thanks to sufficiently high temperatures. The rain at the end of the summer enabled an early onset of botrytis, but a relatively late ripening. 2016 vintage is excellent for tonic character dry wines.

Harvest Different plots of the Disznókő specifically destined for dry wines were harvested and vinified separately. Manuel of fully ripened, healthy bunches very early, picked between 27th September and 10th October in small boxes of 20 kg (44 lbs). The pickers worked with painstaking care, selecting only bunches with healthy, fully ripe grapes, as some bunches had already been affected by the botrytis.

Vinification The grapes were pressed directly without destemming, allowed to settle and then ferment in stainless steel at between 16-20 °C. One third of the whole lot went through .

Ageing After blending the different lots in January, the was aged on its fine lees in stainless steel vats for a month. Bottled in April 2017 in 750 ml Tokaji bottle with glass stoppers.

Analysis Alcohol: 12.5 % Residual sugar: less than 1 g/l Total acidity: 6.9 g/l

Tasting notes Very fresh nose with pear, apple and grapefruit aromas. Exceeding freshness and fruit with a hint of chalk on the palate. A lingering mineral note and salty finish.

Serving suggestion Disznókő Tokaji Dry Furmint is an exceedingly drinkable wine perfect for so many occasions; quenching your thirst on a hot summer’s day, the perfect companion to light meals, great for an evening with friends around the barbecue. Excellent as an aperitif, with a fish and a light sauces (e.g. herring) or sea food (superb with oysters and caviar), as well as poultry, game birds and salads.

Serve Disznókő Tokaji Dry Furmint cool (10°C). After opening, enjoy immediatly. Drink young to enjoy the full expression of its fresh fruit and minerality.
