Fujian Institute of Oceanography (FJIO), located in Xiamen - a special economic zone lying in the southeastern coast of China, is a full-funding public institution affiliated to Fujian Provincial Department of Science & Technology, as well as a non-profit comprehensive maritime research and development institution. Its scientific research building (also the administration building) covers a building area of 3,671 m2 with fine-equipped laboratories and scientific research facilities. In addition, FJIO owns “Yan Ping No.2” oceanographic research vessel with a displacement of 800 tons. In the process of offering the main service to the governmental marine management and social marine development, FJIO has accumulated rich research technology and professional experience in the fields of Mariculture, Integrated Coastal Management, Marine Fisheries Management as well as Marine Economic Sustainable Development. Since 2005 when FJIO started to undertake the China-Aid training programs sponsored by the About the Ministry of Commerce, PRC, FJIO has successfully organized 54 bilateral or multilateral training Organizer courses/ seminars/ workshops of China-Aid training programs which focus on the following 6 program topics - Training Course on Mariculture Technology, Seminar on Integrated Coastal Management, Seminar on Marine Fisheries Management, Seminar on Marine Fisheries and Integrated Coastal Management, Ministerial-level Workshop on ICM and City Development as well as Ministerial Workshop on Integrated Marine Management and Development of Blue Economy for Developing Countries. The working languages include English, Portuguese, French, Spanish and Arabic, and so forth. There are 1459 ministerial or director level officials and technical personnel (1508 person-times, including 6 ministerial level and 17 vice-ministerial level officials), from 98 developing countries along with Portugal and 1 regional international organization (League of Arab States) of 5 continents worldwide, participating FJIO’s training programs. The above programs organized by FJIO have been all popular with the participants and received high reputation. The seminar will adopt the methodology of professional lectures, experienced teaching, communication & discussion, practice & investigation and so on. The courses will be conducted by multimedia teaching as well as the combination of case analysis and Q&A. The seminar contents will be systematically involved the advanced practice and useful experiences of value-added fishery product development and market system construction of China. The seminar will compose of many modules such as Brief Introduction on Chinese Situation, Economy and Trade, Culture and Customs, Development Status of Aquatic Product Processing and Comprehensive Utilization in China, Status Quo and Prospects of Aquatic Product Circulation in China, Development Strategy of Value-Added Fishery Product Based on Aquaculture, Processing and Market System Construction, Development Situation and Market System Construction of Fisheries Economy in Fujian Province and so on. The supervisor will invite officials and experts who respectively come from FJIO, Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Third Institute of Seminar Oceanography, SOA, Jimei University, Fujian Provincial Department of Ocean and Fisheries, Content Oceans & Fisheries Bureau of Xiamen, SeaShine Aquatic Group, Quanzhou Oceanic and Fishery Bureau, Dongshan Ocean and Fisheries Bureau and other relevant departments to have communication with participants. Participants will also attend “The 11th China International (Xiamen) Fisheries Expo”, and inspect aquatic products processing enterprises, big aquatic product wholesale market and national central fishing port as well as exchange and discuss with enterprise supervisors and governmental officials from marine and fisheries departments in Zhoushan City of Zhejiang Province, Quanzhou City, Zhangzhou City of Fujian Province, etc. In addition, the supervisor will organize participants to visit some of Xiamen’s demonstration cases on ICM - Gulangyu Island, Island Ring Road, etc., the starting place of Maritime Silk Road - Quanzhou City, the capital of China- Beijing, the modern and international port city - Ningbo and so forth, in order to enable participants to know more about open China and friendly Chinese people comprehensively.
