The evening will continue with sets by Trinidadian DJ and music producer Jillionaire, with a special guest performance by Miami-based Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell, an icon of Hip Hop who has enjoyed worldwide success while still being true to his Miami roots PAMM Presents Cashmere Cat, Jillionaire + special guest Uncle Luke, takes place on Thursday, December 1, 9pm–midnight, during the museum’s signature Miami Art Week/Art Basel Miami Beach celebration. The event is open to exclusively to PAMM Sustaining and above level members as well as Art Basel Miami Beach, Design Miami/ and Art Miami VIP cardholders.     1 POPULAR MUSIC IN THE MERCER ERA, 1910-1970 Building Bridges: Hank Williams and the Hit Parade (Draft version submitted November 2010) By Dr. Steve Goodson University of West Georgia Carrollton, GA Hank Williams is widely regarded as the archetypal country music singer, songwriter, and performer. Phenomenally successful during his brief lifetime, he has become -- in the nearly six decades since his death -- something of a national cultural institution. He appeared on a U.S. postage stamp in 1993, he was the focus of a Smithsonian Institution symposium in 1999 – the first country artist to be so honored – and he was the subject of a documentary featured on the PBS American Masters series in 2004. When Mercury Records released a 10-CD compilation of his work – The Complete Hank Williams – the groundbreaking set received substantial reviews from a remarkable array of prestigious mainstream publications, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, the Village Voice, and the Times and the Guardian of London. Fans – most of them too young to remember Williams personally, continue to trek to his grave in his hometown of Montgomery, Alabama, often visiting as well as the city's Hank Williams museum and the nearby Williams statue. Artists continue to record his songs, not only in the country field, but in a variety of genres – Norah Jones and Van Morrison being recent examples. The enduring popularity of and ever-growing esteem – even reverence – for this star- crossed performer are remarkable given that his recording career lasted but six years, and that he did not live to see thirty years of age.

    Monitoring the cross-border circulation of European music repertoire within the European Union Report commissioned by EMO & Eurosonic Noordeslag Emmanuel Legrand January 2012 1 About this report: The music scene in Europe is very strong, creative and diversified. Each country within the European Union has a solid local music scene. However, due to the structure of the various national markets, the existence of language diversity and different cultural behaviours, the flow of repertoire across borders within the EU is far from reflecting the notion of one single market. Although there have been embryonic attempts to document the situation of European music repertoire in Europe, the full scale of the situation has never been fully monitored. The European Music Office, in partnership with Eurosonic Noordeslag and Nielsen, has undertaken a preliminary study aimed at monitoring and analysing the cross-border flows of repertoire within the EU in 2011. The study provides quantifiable data on the circulation of repertoire with the ambition of becoming the foundation for an observatory of the circulation of repertoire in Europe.
