Hadi Teherani appoints Dr Christian Bergmann and Sebastian Appl as partners , the 15th of February, 2021

Architect Hadi Teherani has set the course for the future at the change of the year: Dr Christian Bergmann and Sebastian Appl, members of staff for many years, have been designated as partners, effective 1 January, 2021. They have joined executive manage- ment at Hadi Teherani Architects GmbH, each in a capacity as equal partner, and shall be guiding the fortunes of this world-renowned architectural bureau from now on from Hamburg, together with its founder, Hadi Teherani.

This is amply demonstrated by the results from past years – which in our field always means building structures visible to one and all.” In terms of operational business, Hadi Teherani remains unchanged as majority owner and continues to head Hadi Teherani Architects GmbH along with other firms within the Hadi Teherani Group in his capacity as managing partner.

Sebastian Appl has been active for Hadi Teherani in Hamburg since 2013 as Office Director and Head of Architects. He studied architecture at the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany and the State University of New York in Buffalo in the USA. Among other responsibilities, as project manager at OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture) in Rotterdam he had previously been in charge of the projects Shenzhen Stock Exchange in China, Mercati Generali in Rome, and SSC in Doha. As Senior Architect and Project Manager, Dr Christian Bergmann has borne responsi- bility at Hadi Teherani since 2015 for projects including the Flare of , the Volks- bankareal in Freiburg, the Innovationsbogen in , and the Deutschlandhaus in Hamburg. He studied architecture at the ETH Zurich in Switzerland and the University of in Germany, where he also completed his doctorate in 2013. Prior to his time at Hadi Teherani he was active at UNStudio in Amsterdam and Werner Sobek in Stuttgart in capacities as design and project manager. He is the author of the book “Designing Processes - A Strategy for the Future of Construction” published by Birkhäuser Verlag.

In the process we want to continue to set architectural standards which, in terms of their design and conceptualisation, seamlessly draw on such pioneering structures as the Kranhäuser in Cologne or Dockland in Hamburg.”

The Hadi Teherani Group currently employs over 100 members of staff at locations in Hamburg, Frankfurt, , Tehran and Bangalore, and is partitioned into the divisions Architecture, Interior Architecture, Product Design and Consulting. The focus here lies on a holistic design approach which assumes that these fields are atmospherically inse- parable. The firm Hadi Teherani Architects GmbH emerged from the bureau BRT Bothe Richter Teherani founded in 1991 and has been awarded numerous highly acclaimed prizes in architecture and design, including four MIPIM Awards.
