AUSTRALIA SIGNS CO-PRODUCTION TREATY WITH CHINA

Note: the following text made available by Ausfilm.

The Federal Government recently announced that Australia and China have signed a co-production agreement. The treaty, which was finalised in Beijing at the Australian Embassy and took three years to negotiate, covers feature films and telemovies.

The co-production treaty offers a raft of advantages for participants with equal benefits including tax and investment incentives, and allows them access to programs of assistance in their respective countries. Productions made under the treaty, says the Government, also qualify as 'local content' for both nations.
