Meeting with Area Engineer for Navan 14/03/05

The Area Engineer and his supervisor outlined 27 areas that are or were prone to flooding. These are: -

1. Killberry- Low lying area which floods after heavy rain. Regional road R163 is liable to flood Flood Id = 693

2. Balgeeth – Low lying area which floods after heavy rain. County road R594 is liable to flood. Flooding is very frequent here. Flood Id = 694

3. Balrath Cross Roads on N2 /R153 –Some of the arches of the Nanny Road Bridge are blocked and bridge does not have the capacity for volume of water. N2 flood January 2005. Flood occurs 1 to 2 times a year Flood Id = 696

4. Brien’s Cross N2/R150 – Low lying area floods after heavy rain. This occurs 1 or 2 times per year Flood Id = 697

5. Collin’s Cross on Trim Road – Low lying area floods after heavy rain. The existing drainage system has not been maintained. Flood Id = 699

6. Swan Culvert, Trim Road, Navan – The area used to flood after heavy rain. The culvert has been replaced and the river channel has been cleaned. Flood Id = 700

7. Swan/Kilcairn court Housing Estate, Navan – Floods after exceptional heavy rain. Flooded in 2000. 2002 and January 2005 Flood Id = 701

8. Ardbraccan on CR352– Low lying area floods after heavy rain. This occurs 1 or 2 times per year Flood Id = 702

9. R153– River Nanny overflows its bank after heavy rain. Road is liable to flood. Some of the arches of the road bridge are blocked. This occurs 2 or 3 times per year Flood Id = 703

10. Danestown CR 395 - River, tributary of the Nanny over flows its bank. Road is liable to flooding. This occurs 2 or 3 times per year Flood Id = 704

11. Kentstown– Extensive area flooded by River Nanny. Some of the arches of the road bridge are blocked. No road is affected Flood Id = 705

12. Commons Road, Navan - Road is liable to flooding. This occurs 1 or 2 times per year. Flood Id = 706

13. Bru na Boinne, Slane – Flood plain of Flood Id = 935

14. – Flood plain of River Nanny.

15. Dunpatrick – Flood plain of River Blackwater Flood Id = 709

16. Donaghmore at Round Tower – Low lying land floods after heavy rain. Road was liable to flood but 600 mm culvert to Boyne has alleviated the flooding on the road. N51 Flood Id = 710

17. Academy Street, Navan – Flooded in 1991 Flood Id = 711

18. Windtown – Flooding in November 6 2000 and road was flooded. Council has alleviated the problem Flood Id = 712

19. Kilcarn Bridge, Navan – Flood plain of River Boyne Flood Id = 713

20. Atlumney, Navan – Open drain over flows after heavy rain Flood id = 714

21. Rathfeigh – Flood plain of River Hurley Flood id = 715

22. Moatville Housing Estate, Navan – Flooding occurs after heavy rain. Open drain has been culverted by Householder. Culvert size is too small Flood Id = 716

23. Raish Court, Navan – Flooding occurs after heavy rain. Drainage has been interfered with Flood Id = 718

24. Kentstown Cr 390 – Flooding occurs after heavy rain. Drains have been filled to facilitate development. 20 Bungalows liable to flooding Flood Id = 719

25. Ardsallagh CR 369 – Low lying area floods after heavy rain. 1 Property has been flooded Flood Id = 720

26. Macetwon CR 402 – Flooding occurs after heavy rain. Drainage has been interfered with Flood Id = 721

27. Gillstown CR 379/380 – Low lying area floods after heavy rain. 1 Property has been flooded. Road is impassable Flood Id = 722
