Kehoshata כְּ ה ֹ ו שַׁ עְ תָּ As you saved ,nichumecha bemitzvotecha נִ ח וּ מֶ י � בְּ מִ צְ ֹ ו תֶ י � those you calmed with your rules ,tamid yishtashe’un תָּ מִ י ד ִ י שְׁ תַּ עְ שְׁ ע וּ ן ,which always bring delight uretzem vehachalitzem וּרְ צֵ ם וְ הַ חֲ לִ י צֵ ם so you may favor them and bring ,beshuvah vanachat yivashe’un בְּ שׁוּבָה וָנַחַ ת יִוָּשֵׁ עוּן them rest, peacefully let them be !ken hosha nah כֵּן הוֹשַׁ ע נָא !saved—save us like that Kehoshata כְּ ה ֹ ו שַׁ עְ תָּ As you saved and returned ,shevut shivtei Ya’akov שְׁ בוּת שִׁ בְטֵ י יַעֲקֹב ,Jacob’s tribes at the Exodus tashuv vetashiv תָּ שׁ וּב וְתָשִׁ יב you will certainly bring Jacob’s ,shevut oholei Ya’akov שְׁ בוּת אָהֳ לֵי יַעֲקֹב —descendants back home1 !vehoshi’ah nah וְ הוֹשִׁ יעָ ה נָּ א !please save us Kehoshata shomrei mitzvot כְּהוֹשַׁ עְ תָּ שׁוֹמְ רֵ י מִ צְ וֹת As you saved those who observe vechochei yeshu’ot וְ חוֹכֵי יְשׁוּעוֹת ,the rules and hope to be saved :El lemosha’ot אֵ ל לְ מוֹשָׁ עוֹת ,Ps. 68:21 God who saves !vehoshi’ah nah וְ הוֹשִׁ יעָ ה נָּ א —please save us !Ani vaho, hoshiah nah אֲנִי וָהוֹ הוֹשִׁ יעָ ה נָּא !please, God, save us Hoshi’a et amecha הוֹשִׁ יעָה אֶ ת־עַמֶּ � Ps. 28:9 Save your people ,uvarech et nachalatecha וּ בָ רֵ � אֶ ת ־ ַנ חֲ לָ תֶ � ,and bless your heritage .ur’em venas’em ad ha’olam וּרְ עֵ ם וְ ַנ שְּׂ אֵ ם עַ ד ־ הָ ע וֹ לָ ם care for them and carry them forever.2 Veyiheyu devaray eleh וְיִהְ יוּ דְ בָרַ י אֵלֶּ ה I Kings 8:59-60 And let these my words asher hit’chananti lifnei Adonai אֲשֶׁ ר הִתְחַ נַּנְתִּ י לִפְ נֵי Previewיְהוָה which I have prayed before God kerovim el Adonai Eloheinu קְ רֹבִ ים אֶ ל־יְהוָה אֱ�הֵ ינוּ ,be close to the ruler, our God ,yomam valayla י וֹ מָ ם וָ לָ יְ לָ ה ,day and night la’asot mishpat avdo לַעֲשׂוֹת מִשְׁ פַּ ט עַבְ דּוֹ to ensure justice for God’s servant ,umishpat amo Yisra’el וּמִ שְׁ פַּ ט עַ מּוֹ יִ שְׂ רָ אֵ ל ,and justice for God’s people Israel ,devar yom beyomo דְּ בַ ר־יוֹם בְּ יוֹמוֹ dealing with matters as they arise3 lema’an da’at kol amei ha’aretz לְמַ עַן דַּ עַת כָּ ל־עַמֵּ י הָאָרֶ ץ so as to teach all peoples of the world .ki Adonai hu haElohim, ein od כִּ י יְהוָה הוּא הָ אֱ�הִ ים אֵ ין עוֹד that God is God, and nothing else is.4
