SYLVIA TCHERNYCHEV, Artistic DIrector, SDAB GUEST ARTISTS SOLOISTS Ballerina, began her training in the Vaganova method under Marius Zirra. Ms Tchernychev, from San Diego, has performed principal roles of the classical repertoire as a Principal Dancer and guest artist with and opera companies across the United States. Her principal roles include , Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, , Romeo and Juliet, Don Quixote, Coppelia, Paquita, Carmen, Carmina Burana, Serenade, Concerto Barocco and others. Critics have praised her Giselle for its “purity” and her dancing for its “poise and grace”. Her graceful elegance and solid technique made her a San Diego favorite. Ms. Tchernychev was one of three Americans chosen to represent the United States in the Inter- national Ballet Competition in Helsinki, Finland. Ms. Tchernychev has staged and Tchernychev Zoutendijk coached and taught master classes throughout the United States. Scout Forsythe Brian Heil ABT, New York City Ballet EGLE SPOKAITE, Artistic Director, BISD San Diego The principal soloist of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater. The winner of four international ballet competitions around the world. Performed leading classical and neoclassi- cal roles such as “Zizel”, “Sleeping Beauty”, “Swan Lake”, “Copellia”, “Nutcracker“, “Romeo and Juliet”, “Carmen”, “Ana Karenina” etc. Egle collaborated with the most prominent of art world figures: Mstislav Rostropovich, Maya Pliseckaya, Gidon Kremer, - performed under the direction DANCERS Vincent Padilla Kaileen Chiu Kristina Wolf Kaitlin Gates of choreographers Gerald Arpino, Georgy Aleksidze, Krzysztof Pastor, , Alexei Rat- mansky. As a guest artist, she created key roles at Georgian National Opera, Latvian National Opera, Finish National Opera. Egle graduated from Lithuanian Music and Theater Academy with the degree in choreography and pedagogy (ballet education) and started her teaching career. Egle Spokaite co-founded the first private ballet school in Lithuania, currently counting over 700 students. Egle Spokaite moved to live to Boston and subsequently to San Diego. In 2016, she founded the Ballet Institute of San Diego.

The Nutcracker Act II & Winter Gala San Diego Academy of Ballet together with Ballet Institute of San Diego bring a Ballet School founded on the finest traditions of the Vaganova method in combination with French and American ballet tradi- tions. This partnership of two ballet schools has filled the studios with gifted students and opened new opportunities for the highest quality professional ballet education, offering high commitment as well as flexible programs for students according to their needs. The defined curriculum includes an Academic Ballet Program, Pointe and Pre-Pointe, Character Dance, Pas de Deux, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Stretch- ing & Conditioning and Adult Ballet classes. This collaboration also created an opportunity for new Featuring Youth Ballet Company. American Ballet Theatre The dance studios are unique in San Diego. The 7500 square feet of space is specially designed for professional dancers and offers live music accompaniment with spacious lounges. Guest Artist SDAB together with BISD offer a comprehensive and enjoyable ballet education in a positive and sup- portive environment that encourages each student to fulfill his or her hightest potential as a dancer.
