At the end of the year 2019 Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) closed at a level of 8,389.23 points compared to 7,826.73 points for the previous year, gained 562.5 points (7.19%). The highest close level for the index (TASI) during the year (2019) was 9,361.96 points as on 1st of May.

The total Market Capitalization at the end of the year 2019 reached SAR 9,025.44 billion (US$ 2,406.78 billion), increased by 385.51% compared to the end of the previous year.

The total Value of Shares Traded for the year 2019 reached SAR 880.14 billion (US$ 234.70 billion) compared to SAR 870.87 billion (US$ 232.23 billion) for the previous year, increased by 1.06%.

The total number of Transactions executed during the year 2019 reached 28.40 million compared to 25.01million trades for the previous year, increased by 13.53%.

The total number of Shares Traded* for the year 2019 reached 33.06 billion shares compared to 38.05 billion shares traded during the previous year, decreased by 13.13%.

The Daily Average Value of Shares Traded during the year 2019 reached SAR 3,520.56 million compared to SAR 3,497.47 million for the previous year, increased by 0.66%.

The Daily Average Number of Shares Traded during the year 2019 reached 132.22 million shares compared to 152.81 million shares traded during the previous year, decreased by 13.48%.

Industry Groups Activities: In term of number of transactions during the year 2019, the Materials industry group was the most active industry group with 6.61 million trades that represent 23.28% of the total trades during the year, followed by the Banks industry group with 4.43 million trades that represent 15.60% and the Insurance industry group with 3.34 million trades that represent 11.75% of the total trades executed during the year 2019.

The Banks industry group led the market in term of value of shares traded during the year 2019 amounting to SAR 280.05 billion that represent 31.82% of the total value traded, followed by the Materials industry group with SAR 214.34 billion that represent 24.35% and the Energy industry group SAR 63.09 billion or 7.17% of the total value traded during the year 2019.

In term of volume of shares traded (adjusted), Banks industry group was the most active industry group during the year 2019, the number of shares traded for the industry group reached 7.95 billion shares that represent 24.04% of the total volume traded during the year, followed by the Materials Industry group with a volume of 7.61 billion shares that represent 23.01% and Real Estate Mgmt & Dev’t Industry group with 3.60 billion shares traded or 10.90% of the total shares traded during the year 2019.

Stock Activities: With respect to stocks activity during the year 2019, Al Rajhi Bank led the market in term of number of transactions with 1,195.70 thousand trades, followed by Alinma Bank and SABIC with 1,118.97 and 813.28 thousand transactions respectively.

Al Rajhi Bank led the market in term of value of shares traded during the year 2019 and has posted a value of SAR 108.87 billion. The two other most active stocks were SABIC and Alinma Bank that posted a value of SAR 80 billion and SAR 57.78 billion respectively.

In term of number of shares traded during the year 2019, Alinma Bank topped the list with 2.43 billion shares traded during the year, followed by Dar Alarkan and Al Rajhi Bank with a volume of 2.15 and 1.65 billion shares respectively.

MSCI AND TADAWUL TRADABLE INDEX GOES LIVE MSCI Tadawul 30 Index (MT30) comprised of 30 largest Saudi stocks

MSCI Inc. (NYSE: MSCI), a leading provider of indexes and portfolio construction and risk management tools and services for global investors, and the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul), the largest stock exchange in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region in terms of market capitalization and turnover, announced the launch of the MSCI Tadawul 30 Index (MT30) on Wednesday 30/01/2019, a tradeable index. The MSCI Tadawul 30 Index (MT30) initially comprises the 30 largest securities listed on Saudi Arabian Equity Market, based on free float market capitalization and screened for liquidity and international investability. The index will be rebalanced four times a year, and the number of securities may vary within a range of 25-35 securities to reflect changes in the underlying market. Individual securities are capped at a maximum 15 percent weighting in the Index. The index will provide investors with a useful benchmark of the largest liquid companies in Saudi Arabia and serve as the basis for development of an index futures contract listed on Tadawul and can be licensed for other index linked financial instruments, including mutual funds, derivatives and exchange- traded products.

"Tadawul" to Implement a Trade at Last Session

 The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) announces implementing the “Trade at Last” session as an additional new session following the closing auction starting from Sunday 12/5/2019. Accordingly, the new Trade at Last session will extend for 10 minutes immediately after the closing auction session, and will start at 3:10 p.m. AST and end at 3:20 p.m. AST for both the Main Market and Nomu – Parallel Market as well as tradable rights. During this session, orders are placed and matched at the last traded price formed in the closing auction and only at that price (closing price).

 Delisting of Sahara Petrochemical Co. was on Monday 15/09/1440H corresponding to 20/05/2019G.  Delisting of Alawwal Bank was on Monday 14/10/1440H corresponding to 17/06/2019G.

Tadawul Announces Completion of Inclusion in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index

The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) announces successfully completing its full inclusion into the MSCI Emerging Markets Index, which brings the Kingdom’s weighting to 2.8 % of the index’s total market capitalization, with 31 Saudi listed companies included the Index. Inclusion to the index were phased in two tranches with a 50% inclusion factor for each, where the implementation of the first tranche took place in May 28, 2019 and implementation of the second tranche occurred in August 28, 2019.
