Last Outing -- Tulsa vs. UC Davis • Tulsa won its first postseason match since 2011 on Wednesday night with a four-set victory over UC Davis [20-25, 25-13, 26-24, 25-20]. The match was the second in the all-time series between the Golden Hurricane and Aggies, which is tied at 1-1. • Dilara Gedikoglu paced the Golden Hurricane with 10 kills and 17 digs for her 16th double-double of the campaign. • Taylor Horsfall also chipped in 17 digs and tied her career-high of four service aces. She stands 33 digs shy of become the program’s leader for career digs. • Mariah Pardo led TU with 15 assists, followed by Roosa Rautio with 13 dimes. • Defensively, Callie Cook and Maggie Hembree each recorded three solo blocks. Cook finished with six total blocks, while Hembree tallied 4.5. Maddie Rhoder finished with 3.5 blocks (seven block assists).

The American Tournament • Tulsa, the No. 6 seed in the 2019 American Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball Championship, took to the court against the No. 3 seed and host team UCF. The Golden Hurricane fell to the eventual tournament champion Knights in four sets [18-25, 10-25, 25-21, 18-25]. • The match featured The American’s last two Freshman of the Year recipients in Tulsa’s Dilara Gedikoglu and UCF’s McKenna Melville. Gedikoglu finished with a match-high 16 kills, to go with 14 digs for her 15th double-double of the season. • Mariah Pardo also tallied a double-double, adding 14 assists and 13 digs. That gives her six this campaign. • Taylor Horsfall chipped in a match-best 25 digs. She was the lone Golden Hurricane named to the All-Tournament team. • Roosa Rautio led all players with 23 assists. • Hannah Overmyer also eclipsed double-figure kills for the fourth time this season with 10.

Horsfall Heroics • Senior Taylor Horsfall has been named Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week by The American on six occasions this season and four times to the weekly honor roll. • She currently leads The American and ranks fourth in Division I in digs per set (6.06) and is third in total digs (721). The senior defensive specialist/libero is one of four Division I players with 700+ digs this year and one of 21 student-athletes across all three divisions. • Horsfall is just 33 digs shy of breaking the program record at TU for career digs. She enters Thursday’s match with 2,405.

Gedikoglu Tidbits • Freshman Dilara Gedikoglu leads Tulsa with 480 total kills this season, which ranks third in The American. Averaging 4.17 kills per set, she is one of four freshmen in Division I women’s volleyball with 400+ kills, and one of 16 freshmen across all three divisions. • She has tallied double-figure kills in 24 matches and has posted 16 double-doubles.

Reaching Milestones, Breaking Records • At SMU (10/4), senior Taylor Horsfall recorded her 2,000th career dig at Tulsa. She became the third player in program history to reach the plateau. She moved into second place in career digs at UCF in the American Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball Championship. Her 704 digs are second-most in a single season and just the second time 700+ digs have been recorded in a season (Horsfall ‘17 - 755). In total, she holds three of the top six individual season records for digs at TU. • Head coach Ryan Wills picked up his 100th career win at Memphis (10/6). He became the fourth coach in program history to reach the century mark and the third-fastest to 100 wins in program history. She tied the mark with her 2,569th career assist vs. UCF (10/20), before capturing the record with her first assist against the Owls. 1. Baylor (43) 25-1 • Junior middle blocker Callie Cook entered the top five in block assists vs. Tulane (10/11), finishing with 2. Pittsburgh (11) 29-1 five. Two days later, she moved up to fourth on the all-time list with two block assists vs. Houston 3. Stanford (10) 24-4 (10/13). Setting Preseason Records • After finishing fourth in the 2018 American Athletic Conference standings, Tulsa was voted to end in the same spot this season. It’s the third time the Golden Hurricane were picked to finish fourth in The American Preseason Coaches’ Poll, which ties the program’s highest projection as a member of the conference. • Taylor Horsfall was named to The American Preseason All-Conference Team. She became the second TU player to receive multiple American Athletic Conference preseason honors. The senior is a two-time all-conference recipient and was named the 2017 Libero of the Year.

Welcoming New Faces • Of the 14 student-athletes on this year’s team, nearly half are new faces to TU. Eight Golden Hurricane return, including seven letterwinners. Returning players include Callie Cook, Maddie Flora, Maggie Hembree, Taylor Horsfall, Lauren Isenberg, Hannah Overmyer, Mariah Pardo, and Maddie Rhoder. • Sophomore’s Mariah Brim and Roosa Rautio each transferred to Tulsa during the offseason. • Brim, a transfer from Florida State, totaled 41 total blocks for the Seminoles in 2018. Appearing in 47 sets over 14 matches, she recorded at least four blocks in six contests. • Rautio comes to Tulsa after spending a year at North Dakota. The setter played and started in 31 matches. She led the Fighting Hawks with 1,214 assists, averaging 10.4 a/s. • TU also welcomes freshmen Kayley Cassaday, Aysu Dalogullari, Dilara Gedikoglu, and Lily Heyne.
