Richa Sharma Born in Faridabad, India, Richa Sharma is well loved Bollywood singer and performer. She trained as a vocalist at young age under the tutelage of Pandit Aaskaran Sharma, and went on to add Gazal, Pop, Punjabi and Rajasthani folk songs to her repertoire, thus making her voice reach out to more and more people in a variety of disciplines.

Initially she dedicated her music to devotional songs and bhajans , till her voice quality was noticed by leading music composers and directors and thus started her Bollywood journey.

She made her debut in Bollywood with Sawan Kumar’s Salma Pe Dil Aa Gaya in 1996 and followed it up by a number of films until the big hit came by in the form of Taal where she sang for Academy award winning composer, A.R Rahman.

Thereafter successful carrer bloomed followed with her hits in Zubaida, Saathiya, Heera Pheri, Khakee, Baghban, Soch, Kal ho nah Ho, Saawariya, Om Shanti Om, “Umrao Jan”, recently “Padmavat” “Bombay Talkies” and award winning “Sajda” for “My Name is Khan”. With singing credits for more then 50 successful Bollywood films, Richa continues to make her mark with her powerful voice in live concerts and TV talent shows as judge and performer. In March 2011, Richa Sharma and her family inaugurated the Saibaba Temple in Faridabad, Haryana and launched her first Saibaba devotional album Sai Ki Tasveer released by SaReGaMa India.

Quintessential Canadian A retrospective show of works by Charles Pachter.

Canadian Community Art Initiative, selected senior Canadian artist Charles Pachter to represent Canada in one of the last of Canada 150 events and Cross Pollination project that CCAI initiated two years ago. This project engages mostly non south Asian Canadian artists in various artistic projects in South , such as artist residency, teaching and directing assignments, exhibition and workshops and performances. Charles Pachter was a natural choice as he is a prolific Canadian artist whose main focus is Canada and its representational icons. This exhibition was organized by CCAI, for the Bangladesh National Museum, Dhaka in collaboration with the Canadian High Commission Dhaka, Winners Creations Bangladesh and Mr. Durjoy Rehman. Upon arrival, Mr Charles Pachter attended the special Canadian wine and Cheese reception, hosted by well know art Collector and business man, Mr Durjoy Rehman where representatives from all major embassies were in attendance including the first secretary of Canadian High Commission, along with Ambassadors of USA, Germany, European Union, Holland, Kuwait, India, France, , Spain ,Thailand, China and other members of the diplomatic corps in Dhaka. The exhibition was opened by the honourable minister of culture of Bangladesh and the head of Cultural agency of Bangladesh at the Bangladesh National Museum on 6th February 2018. In his opening address, the minister congratulated Canadian High Commission on taking the initiative of supporting this important cultural exchange and introduction of Canadian icons to Bangladeshi audience. The admission to the show was completely free and according to the museum numbers, a thousand people attended the show every day. This included students groups and also non Bangladeshi visitors who were attending the Dhaka Art Sumit at the same time. Another reception was also arranged by the Dhaka Art Sumit for Charles Pachter at the residence of Nadia and Rajeeb Samdani, where guests of Dhaka Sumit got an opportunity to enjoy the company of dynamic artist himself. Charles Pachter was also invited to the International School Dhaka to give a talk to the student of visual arts and this talk was very well received. Special envoy of the PrimeMinister , Bob Rae who happened to be in Dhaka at that time also attended the show and met with Pachter. A catalogue was printed for this show with special essay written by his long time friend and Canadian author Margret Atwood. This exhibition was made possible by the travel grant from Canada Council, grant from Global Affairs Canada, operational funding for CCAI by OAC and sponsorship of Winners Creations Bangladesh. AROOSA NAZ RANA Aroosa Naz Rana is a visual artist and an Educator, works and lives in Lahore, Pakistan. Over the one decade, Rana’s practice included many diverse ideas and ways of production. Rana’s art is a constant query about” who is a viewer and who is being viewed” and the position of a viewer in her art works. She acknowledges that before the advent of advanced technologies, fact and fiction resided in two distinguishable categories. Her works of art challenge viewers in the same way that they are challenged by contemporary technologies – to decipher fact from fiction. Recent shows include; Colombo Biennale | 2016 – “Stills of Peace and everyday life” | Museum Capitolare di Arti | Italy | 2014 - “Exit” Dhaka Art Summit |2014 - “Crossing Over” Delhi | India| 2013 – “Suspended Disbelief” | Pakistan | 2013 – “Subverting Desire” | Pakistan | 2007 Aroosa Rana is a faculty member at the school of visual Arts and Design at the Beaconhouse National University in Lahore, Pakistan. Rana is presenting her photographic montage at TD Mosaic 2017 during the outdoor festival on 3 and 4 August on the large outdoor screens. Her work is exclusively made for this festival and alludes to the diversity and immigrant communities of Canada and its global position. Rana will be presenting an artist talk at the Art Galley of Mississauga on August 18. Ishrat Suhrwardy and Luc Bihan will conduct clay and Pottery workshops for children and Youth on Sat 4th August at the Celebration Square. HUMERA CHANNA

We are delighted to bring back one of the most talented singer from Pakistani film and independent music scenario. A name that needs no introduction when it comes to popular Pakistani music, Humera Channa ,from a very early age she developed her musical talents through training. With a voice that was always appreciated by her teachers, Humera Channa made her place in Pakistani music scene early in her career and has over the years mastered gazal as well as folk singing. She has sung playback for many films and is reinventing her style with Coke Studio Pakistan.

Humera won a number of awards for her musical performances and is versatile singer in many local and regional languages and dialects. She is also “Pride of Performance” winner, the highest civilian award for service to arts in Pakistan. You will enjoy her full concert performance on TD Mosaic Stage on Friday night where she will sing her selections from her famed Coke Studio to various popular film and TV collections.

Perfoming with Humera Channa Nadeem Ali and Avengers Band

Nadeem Ali is a well-known composer and singer from Pakistan who established the Avengers band in 2000 to meet the rising need of new immigrant South Asian community in Canada for their traditional music and songs. An M.A in Psychology from Govt. College Lahore, Pakistan, Nadeem also studied music and completed it with distinction in his class. Trained with the great Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, performing as a young musician with him all over the world, Nadeem also had the honor of performing with legends like Lata Mageshkar, Madam Noor Jahan and many other notable artists. We are pleased to welcome Nadeem Ali with his talented band on Mosaic stage as a returning artist where in the past he performed as the headliners in 2006 when first Mosaic Festival took place.

Abhimanyu Lal and Vidha Lal are Disciples and Son and Daughter-in-law of Sangeet Natak Academy Awardee Guru Smt. Geetanjali Lal of Jaipur Gharana. Both learnt this art form under the tutelage of their Guru. Smt. Geetanjali Lal at the National Institute of Kathak, New Delhi and later continued their training under guru shishya parampara. Vidha Lal and Abhimanyu Lal are ‘A’ grade artists from Delhi Doordarshan and an Outstanding empanelled artists of I.C.C.R, Delhi. Performing extensively in all major dance festivals in India and abroad to name a few ( National) Chakardhar Mahotsava 2016, Pt. Ravishankar Dance Festival 2016, NCPA Mudra Dance festival Mumbai 2015, Nimaar Utsav2015, Ganga Mahotsava 2015, Mahabodhi Mahotsava 2015, Sharavan Mahotsava 2015 etc. (International), Gharana Mahotsava Los Angeles, Riturang festival Dubai 2015, Europalia Dance festival 2013, International Dance festival Sydeny, Olympics 2012 London , BRICKS summit, ASIEAN summit organized by I.C.C.R. etc. Both have been awarded Sri Krishana Gana Sabha endowment award and Nritya jayantika award from Guru Mayadhar Raut Odissi Dance school. TD Mosaic festival is honoured to invite back this talented duo after 10 years to Canada for another inspiring performance on mainstage and a master class for dancers at the Sampradaya Dance Academy in Mississauga. MOHSIN SHAUKAT ALI Mohsin Shaukat Ali started singing at the age of 4 and received training from his father, the Legendry Punjabi Folk & Sufi Singer Shaukat Ali Khan and uncle Inayat Ali Khan. His command on traditional ragas and strength of voice soon made him one of the protégées in Punjabi classical and folk traditions. Pakistan Television gave him his first break as professional singer and he continued to scale accolades with his expertise in various genre of musical performance. Mohsin also mastered the playing of various musical instruments that enabled him in composing his own selection of songs. His three albums received both critical and monetary success. It includes his sufi selction in “Madine Jaan Waliyo”, folk songs in “Dhol Makhna” and mixed selection in “Aslamo-E-Elakum”. Currently Mohsin is working on his fourth album in Canada, that aims to attract the diverse audience to his music. He has performed his musical magic in various major hubs of South Asian populations internationally and now calls Canada his home since he moved here a couple of years ago. His imaginative and creative performance has made him a musical marvel. Both his music and his performance style have hypnotic quality - an ethereal genre-busting musical individual who is an artist of the future, buzzing with magic and completely multi-dimensional in the way he uses performance, technology, fusion, fashion, video and art to compliment his music. A pop chameleon, Denique works best outside the box, challenging a new territory of sound that we’ve yet to discover. Combining his Celtic roots with an electric modern punch, he takes traditional music to a new level and redefines what it means to be a fiddler. DEHLI EXPRESS Featuring JAASMAAN RATHODE BAND Just like Delhi belongs to everyone and is known for its diversity, this band caters to the melodic needs of diverse audiences and renders melodies in different Indian languages with perfection. ‘Delhi Express’ is an Indo-Canadian band put together by Jaasmaan Rathore, who is also the lead singer of the band. Being a multi-lingual band, ‘Delhi Express’ focuses on delivering fresh and unique interpretation of , Tamil, Malayalam and Punjabi classics and folk songs. All the band members are talented and experienced musicians who have worked alongside legends like Yesudas, KS Chitra to name a few. Moreover, Jaasmaan is working alongside Mr. Pravin Mani, who has been long time associate of Legendary AR Rahman. ‘Delhi Express’ will soon be coming up with their interpretation of AR Rahman classics and also some folk Punjabi and Carnatic music in their upcoming recording. Screening of Mahemir, a film written and directed by Sarmad Sehbai on Friday July 27 at the Living Art Centre at 7 pm. Mah e Mir is a 2016 Pakistani biographical film directed by Anjum Shahzad, produced by Khurram Rana, Sahir Rasheed, Badar Ikram and written by Sarmad Sehbai. The film is based on the life of the famous poet Mir Taqi Mir, role played by Fahad Mustapha. Film also stars Iman Ali, , Ally Khanand Manzar Sehbai in lead roles.[7] It was the Official submission as the country’s entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards. Mah-e-Mir is a story that follows the struggle of a contemporary poet and draws parallels with events in Mir’s life. The film was co-distributed by Hum Films and Eveready Pictures on May 6, 2016 nationwide.

A poet, playwright and a drama director, Sarmad Sehbai is known in Pakistan and abroad for his original and innovative approach towards art and culture. A masters in English Literature from Government College (GC) Lahore, he joined PTV in the 1968. In 1970s as head of PTV’s play-writing department. He was the part of those visionary creators, who despite heavy censor of dictator Zia’s policy, presented sophisticated political content and vibrant social realism, which is still remembered as the golden period of PTV drama. His contemporary interpretations of Saadat Hassan Manto’s short stories ‘Naya Qanoon’ produced in 1997 received the PTV Award for the best writer and director. His documentary on Truck Art and Highway Culture of Pakistan entitled ‘Mughals of The Road’ was shown in Hamburg Museum Germany, 1999, at the Oslo Film Festival, 1999, and at the Film Festival in Russia , 2008. He was selected as Pakistan delegate for the prestigious Theatertreffen 2009 by the Goethe Institute, Berlin. He is the writer and director of ‘Fankar Gali’, a 90-minute video film about struggling street artists, shown on national and international channels. His visual interpretation of classical music ‘Classic One’ was shown at Gold Festival, Prague, 1991 and at SAARC Festival, New Delhi, 1993. Published and performed in English, Punjabi and in Pakistan, India, Norway and London, his poetry has evolved a new poetic idiom, skillfully blending the native ethos of Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro in Urdu language. He held positions of Script Editor of PTV Lahore, Course Director of PTV Academy Islamabad, Director of Audio Visual Documentation, National Institute of Folk Heritage, Islamabad, Controller Playwright Department PTV Islamabad, and Head of the PTV Drama Department. After retiring from PTV, he has been teaching screenwriting and theatre courses at National College of Arts and writing and directing for various TV channels. His drama serials ‘Jalpari’ and ‘La’were recently aired on GEO and Hum channel. A year long mega budgeted serial Mor-Mahal is currently aired by two leading channels of Pakistan National TV and Geo and his feature film ‘Mah e Mir was released in Pakistani cinemas on May 6th 2016. It has been shown in more than 11 international festivals and has won five prestigious awards. It was also the official nomination from Pakistan for Oscars by the Oscar committee. Rising Star HAMZA FAROOQUI Born and raised in the Middle East, Hamza lived in Saudi Arabia till the age of 16 performing in over 50 stage shows all over the Middle East. He is well versed in , English and Hindi featuring a variety of songs (Hindi, English, Arabic, etc..) for everyone ranging from teenagers to mature audience. At 16 he left for Canada to study and continued performing at many underground clubs in Toronto, and lately on the festival circuit. He moved to Mumbai to pursue a serious career in music and since then he has done a lot of work ranging from underground music to mainstream Hindi film playback. He has worked with noted musicians and directors in Bollywood music industry. He is currently back in Canada and working on a new album with trilingual original tracks.

She is the founder of Saumya’s fusion fitness and has instructed for number of years at Various Fitness centers in Mumbai. ALI KAZMI Ali Kazmi is a Canadian actor of Pakistani descent. He appears in English, Urdu, Hindi and films and TV series. Apart from acting he has also worked as a host, director, producer and model. Kazmi was born to Rahat Kazmi and Sahira Kazmi , a leading actors, drama writers and producers, in , Pakistan. He began his career as a child actor and his first one on screen was when he was 2, it was love at first sight. His first professional appearance as a teenager was in 1995 TV series Zikr Hai Kai Saal Ka on PTV Home and then continued playing supporting or minor roles in television which includes Manzil (2006). After completing his studies from Karachi , he moved to Canada and began acting and modeling there by appearing in TV series, commercials and plays.
