Four things you can do to keep your loved ones well this Christmas
1. Flu Jab If you're eligible for the free flu vaccine, get it now – it’s free because you need it. Flu is a highly infectious disease and can lead to serious complications for people aged 65+, those with long-term health conditions, pregnant women and young children.
2. Keep Well and Keep Warm Winter conditions can be seriously bad for your health, especially for people aged 65+ or with long-term health conditions. If possible: Keep your home heated to at least 18ºC Keep your bedroom window closed at night Keep active when indoors Wear several layers of light clothing rather than one bulky layer
3. Stock up your medicine cabinet for the bank holidays
If you take prescription medication please ensure that you have enough to last over the festive period. Although some pharmacies will be open over the bank holidays, the best way to make sure you stay well is by having enough in advance.
4. Know who to call and where to go
You can speak to your pharmacist about many healthcare issues including long-term conditions. Call NHS 111 for non-urgent, fast medical help – available 24/7.
