PNP Women’s Movement celebrates the appointment of 15 Female Canadian Ministers

The People’s National Party Women’s Movement notes with delight, that newly elected Canadian Prime Minister has named 15 women in his 31- member cabinet. “Mr. Trudeau has fulfilled his election promise of equal representation on a gender basis, by naming 15 females as Ministers of his Government. We hail this as an example for all democratic countries to move towards,” says Jennifer Edwards, President of the Women’s Movement. “Hopefully we will start to see this level of representation in all governments everywhere,” Edwards said, while adding “Additionally, our congratulation goes out on the bright light of equality, which the gender division in the new Canadian cabinet is shining on the democratic political process of the world.” “The PNP Women’s Movement also extends congratulations and best wishes to the on their resounding victory in the October 19 Canadian General Election”, Edwards said. -more- While the Women’s Movement President congratulated all cabinet members, she was particularly pleased that some of the key Ministries were being led by female Ministers such as:

- Indigenous and Northern Affairs.

 Jody Wilson-Raybould - Justice and Attorney General of Canada.

 Judy Foote - Public Services and Procurement.

- International Trade.

- Health.

 Dianne Lebouthillier - National Revenue.

 MaryAnn Mihychuck - Employment Workforce Development and Labour

- Sport, and Persons with Disabilities.

- Science.

 Patricia Hajdu - Status of Women.

When asked by the media, why half of his Cabinet consisted of women, Trudeau said: “because it is 2015.” This is impressive and bold said Ms. Edwards. --30--
