VACANCY: Site Manager CTEET, in partnership with the City of Biodiversity Management Branch and the Racecourse Environmental Management Committee, is looking to fill the position of Site Manager for the Nature Reserve: Milnerton Racecourse Section.

Job Purpose Reporting to the Biodiversity Management Branch, the successful incumbent will be required to manage the 20ha Milnerton Racecourse Section in liaison with the Environmental Management Committee (EMC), and focusing on the biological integrity and connectivity with the Rietvlei wetland and the Milnerton Lagoon Sections of the Table Bay Nature Reserve.

Job Responsibilities - Managing the conservation of biodiversity at the Milnerton Racecourse Section according to the Environmental Management System (EMS) as well as the Milnerton Lagoon. - Formulating and implementing Annual Plans of Operation (APO’s) to manage and monitor invasive vegetation, fire, rehabilitation and restoration, infrastructure, fauna and flora, and the collection and storage of data in order to best achieve the objectives. - Drafting and management of budgets according to the APO. - Managing environmental compliance in developments that affect the Milnerton Racecourse. - Managing temporary contract staff appointed for conservation activities. - Review and updating the EMS in consultation with the EMC. - Attending EMC meetings or any other ad-hoc meetings that affect or relate to the management of the Milnerton Racecourse Section. - Reporting monthly and quarterly on conservation activities and compile popular articles. - Interacting with community members, residents, business owners and organisations to promote environmental education and awareness.

Job Requirements - Relevant degree or national diploma in Nature Conservation or similar field - Minimum 1 year biodiversity and/or site management experience in the - An understanding of the ’s conservation planning and of legislation and Environmental Authorisations will be beneficial. - Ability to work on own, managing time and reporting deadlines - Ability to work in a team and supervise contract staff when necessary - Ability and eagerness to mentor staff and students on developmental programmes - Computer proficiency (MS Office – MS Word, MS Excel and Outlook) - Valid Code EB (08) Driver’s Licence with at least 3 years of regular driving experience - Experience on firelines will be beneficial
