WORKING VENUES

All main programme working sessions will be held at the Ministry of Science and Education. Shuttle bus will be organized from the hotel to the Ministry in the morning and take the participants back to the hotel in the afternoon.

Side event ‘Why Global Development Education?’ will be organized from 19:00 – 21:00 on the 18th in the city centre, 2 minutes’ walk from the Main square at Chilloutka (address: Ilica 15). It is planned as a more informal discussion on GDE with seminar participants and other interested people from Croatia. If you are up for a walk it takes around 20 minutes from the hotel to Chilloutka:

Zagreb sightseeing guided tour will be organized for interested participants after dinner on the 17th, starting from the hotel and providing main information about the city in a 2 hours walk. Participating fee will depend on the number of participants but will not exceed 5EUR per person. It will be a great opportunity to walk, talk and get to know the city!

Public transportation tickets can be purchased in newspaper stalls (kiosk), we advise you to buy them prior to taking bus or tram. Price varies depending on the length of the journey – 4 HRK for 30 min (approx. 0,5 €), 7 HRK for 1 hour (approx. 0,95 €) and 10 HRK for 1,5 hours (approx. 1,3 €).

Hotel International is located in downtown Zagreb, among business and institutions offices, while most major Zagreb sights and attractions are nearby. Only 15 minute walk away from hotel you can visit the Botanical Garden and a renowned Lenuci horseshoe (urban landscape). Botanical Garden is surrounded by many historical buildings you can see while walking toward Ban Jelacic square, the city's main square. City centre can also be reached by tram number 13 (direction 'Kvaternikov trg'). Trip is a little longer but along the way you pass near neo-baroque building of the Croatian National Theatre and the neo-renaissance palace, which houses the Museum Mimara.

The organizers provide accommodation for panellists and invited guests. Participants will be staying in hotel International in single rooms, breakfast is included in the booking.

MEALS

Lunch will be provided for all congress participants on the 17 and 18 October.

Dinners for guests staying at the Hotel International will be organized in the hotel on the 16th at 20:30 and 17th at 19:00.

REACHING THE HOTEL

ARRIVING BY PLANE -

Organized transfers from the airport to the hotel will be organized for the delegations.

If for some reason you decide to come on your own, from the Zagreb airport to the hotel you may take a taxi (regular daily rates range from 150-160HRK/20-22 €).

You may also take a regular Croatia Airlines bus line that takes you to the main bus station in Zagreb for 35 HRK/5 €. You can pay this shuttle in . The bus leaves every half an hour in front of the terminal at the airport, you may purchase a ticket from the bus driver. Link to the schedule at: http://www.plesoprijevoz.hr/en/page/timetable. From main bus station take tram number 5 (direction 'Precko') and get off at station 'Miramarska'.

Zagreb has a couple of reliable taxi services; most of them have similar prices. You can get them on taxi stations in the city or order them by phone:

ARRIVING BY CAR

If coming from the west (highway A2, crossing Bregana, ), follow signs for “Zagreb west (Zagreb zapad)” and continue to drive along Zagreb Avenue. Turn left at Savska road (Savska cesta). At the first , turn right to Vukovar Avenue. Drive 700 meters to the intersection with Miramarska Street. Hotel is on your right side.

If coming from the east entrance to the city drive along Slavonian Avenue (Slavonska avenija, 11 km) before turning to Trnje. Turn right. Continue to drive and turn left in Vukovar Avenue. After 400 meters turn left. The hotel is located on your right side.

The weather in October in Zagreb is rather dry (with 92mm of precipitation over 9 days). Temperatures are usually up to 17°C. The minimum is 8°C. Thus, the mean temperature average on this month of October in Zagreb is 13°C.
