Dear Applicant,

Thank you for showing your interest in the role of Assistant Headteacher in the Primary phase at George Mitchell School. We are an all-through school educating students across three phases: Early Years, Primary and Secondary, with just under 1000 children from nursery age to Year 11. We are looking to recruit an experienced practitioner who will be able to take a strategic lead in further developing the primary phase and helping the school to achieve its aim of one day soon being an Outstanding school. You will be expected to contribute to strategic developments both within the primary phase and across the all-through school and work proactively towards securing good teaching for every pupil in the school in every lesson.

It is our hope that you will currently be working at middle or senior level in a , that you will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience and that you one day hope to take on Headship of a large Primary, or indeed an all-through school. We fully subscribe to the ethos of nurturing our own outstanding leaders and should you be successful in your application for this post, you will have access to an extensive programme of Continuing Professional Development at George Mitchell School.

George Mitchell is a popular and increasingly successful mixed, . We educate students from nursery age to Year 11. The school serves a richly diverse area, with many ethnic groups and languages represented. We enjoy all the benefits of our diverse and vibrant community but also some of the challenges.
