The capital of the United Arab Emirates is known as the ‘Land of the Gazelle’ in Arabic and has been transformed into this modern, cosmopolitan city known for its high rises and crystal blue waters.

Abu Dhabi holds tight to its high-end lifestyle with shopping being a national pastime because it’s so diverse. With high end stores such as Hermès and Louis Vuitton, shopping is in modern malls compared to traditional marketplaces. Abu Dhabi is also home to many souks, which means ‘marketplace’ in Arabic. The traditional souks usually revolve around themes such as the Carpet Souk which is home to Yemeni mattresses and carpets, or the Souk Al Zararana, which holds any number of items such as incenses, henna, or traditional garments.

MARK WEBBER

Date Of Birth Born in New South Wales on August 27th, August 27, 1976 1976, Mark Webber is a nine-time Formula Nationality Australian 1® Grand Prix winner and an FIA World Endurance Champion.

Following a successful run in karting and Formula Ford in his native Australia, Webber knew that if he wanted to realise his dream of F1®, he had to leave his home soil and move to Europe.

He competed in British Formula Ford, Formula 3, Sports-cars and then Formula 3000 where his good results and pace landed him an F1 test drive with Benetton. Mark made his F1 debut with Minardi in 2002, where in a race full of attrition, he managed to hang on in there and grabbed fifth place at the flag, scoring the team’s first points in three years. His ability to push a car beyond its limits opened the door for him to sign with the newly-rejuvenated Jaguar Racing team and subsequently Williams F1.

After moving to Red Bull Racing in 2007, Mark took his first F1 win in the 2009 German Grand Prix, which he described as the proudest moment of his career. Throughout his 12 years in F1, Mark notched up 215 races, nine victories – most notably becoming a double winner of both the prestigious Monaco and British Grands Prix – and accumulated an impressive tally of 42 podium finishes, 13 pole positions and 19 fastest laps. He also helped Red Bull Racing to four consecutive Constructors’ World Championships.

ALAIN PROST

Date Of Birth Born in New South Wales on August 27th, February 24, 1955 1976, Mark Webber is a nine-time Formula Nationality French 1® Grand Prix winner and an FIA World Endurance Champion.

Aptly nicknamed “The Professor” due to his cerebral approach to racing, Prost is one of the greatest drivers ever to grace the sport of Formula 1®. A winner of four World Championships (1985, 1986, 1989, 1993), Prost made winning races look easy - 51 times to be exact. A career that was embroiled (and on occasions acrimoniously) in a long-standing battle with Ayrton Senna, only Juan Manuel Fangio and Michael Schumacher have won more world titles. Prost’s first win came in a French car, for Renault at the French Grand Prix. Claiming nine victories in his first three seasons with Renault, Prost moved to McLaren in 1984 in a moved which proved fruitful.

In his six seasons with McLaren, Alain Prost won 30 races and three driving titles and was runner-up twice. 1988 saw Prost contribute seven wins to his McLaren-Honda team’s one-sided season total of 15 victories from 16 races. However, his brilliant new team mate Ayrton Senna won eight races and the driving title. From here, the sensational rivalry that conspired to push two of the sport’s greatest drivers to unprecedented heights of success and controversy began. Prost would go on to claim a further title in 1989 in controversial circumstances at Suzuka, before joining Ferrari ahead of the 1990 season. Following a sabbatical in 1992, Prost re-joined the F1® grid with Williams-Renault, where he claimed his fourth and final driving title in 1993. Presently, Prost works in an advisory role for the Renault team.

JACQUES VILLENEUVE

Active Years Jacques Villeneuve is another second- 1996 - 2006 generation Grand Prix driver who escaped Nationality Canadian the long shadow of a famous father, Gilles, World Championship to become World Champion through his own 1997 efforts and on his own terms.

Brought up in Monaco rather than his native Canada, Villeneuve learned his craft in F3 in Italy and Japan before moving Stateside and the American Formula Atlantic championship. After graduating to Indycar in 1994, Villeneuve produced a promising season, which was followed by a superb one in 1995. He took victory in the Indianapolis 500 as well as the Indycar championship. This, together with the desire by F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone to see an 'American' driver in F1, eased him straight into the top Grand Prix team in the business for 1996.

After putting his Williams on pole position for his F1 debut, Villeneuve scored three wins and took the championship battle with teammate Damon Hill down to the wire. At Estoril he also earned the ultimate respect of the F1 world by doing the unthinkable - passing Michael Schumacher round the outside. Credentials thus established, Villeneuve headed into 1997 looking to go one better than his '96 runner-up position. After beginning the year strongly, he suffered some midseason 'wobbles' - crashing out of the lead in Canada through pure driving error, being off the pace in both France and Germany - which was all the inspired Schumacher needed to take the lead of the series. A strong fight back by Williams and Villeneuve looked like reaping its reward though, until the penultimate round in Japan where Villeneuve was suspended for a practice yellow flag infringement - his fourth of the season - and Schumacher won.

All of which left Villeneuve virtually neck and neck with the German for a dramatic showdown at Jerez for the European Grand Prix. Though Schumacher made the early running, after both drivers had made their routine stops, Jacques began to hunt the Ferrari down. Once it was in his sights, he decided to surprise Schumacher by diving for the inside from a long way back. It was a beautiful move and Schumacher indeed was surprised. When he realized his error he turned into the Williams but succeeded only in putting himself into the gravel trap and out of the race. Villeneuve continued in the lead and on the last lap allowed the McLarens of Hakkinen and
