EditorialSimply Wrote… Where were you? By Heather Isaacs Staff Writer

Ten years ago we all were devastated by the at- tacks on the in New York, Washing- ton, D.C. and Pennsylvania. We sat at work, home and school with our families and friends wondering what was next. Not knowing what tomorrow would bring or for that matter what the next few hours would bring on that day left us all uncertain. We were uncertain of things we were sure of in the days before these heinous attacks on our freedom. I started out my day like most 21-year-old college students. I raced around frantically trying to gather my books and my thoughts before my classes began. To me this was an ordinary day, the chaos of my own life. Little did I know things were about to change. I was sitting in one of my journalism classes working on assignments. The Professors name was Dan Hollis, who still teaches journalism at Marshall University. To you and most of my readers these events may seem trivial and unimportant. However, to me they will forever mark a time in history for myself much like the things everyone else was do- ing during this specific time. We received notice of what was going and made our way to the newsroom when class was dismissed early. We sat in silence in a room that was normally bustling with student reporters running in and out getting assignments and typing articles as the sec- ond plane destroyed the Twin Towers. “Growing pains” is how Scott soccer head coach Zach Boyd summed up the loss to Class AA soccer powerhouse Oak Hill on Thursday night (August 25). Oak Hill came into the contest as the state runner- up in Class AA/A from the 2010 season having lost the championship 4-1 to Charleston Catholic. “Oak Hill appears to be a state title contender again this year.
