Moses recalls how he told them that he could not bear the burden of their strife alone, and

directed them to pick leaders from each tribe who were wise, discerning, and experienced. Candle Lighting Friday Night 8:01 PM They did, and Moses charged the magistrates to hear and decide disputes justly. Moses Friday Evening Services 7:15 PM directed them to bring him any matter that was too difficult to decide. Shabbat Morning Service 9:00 AM Moses recalls the story of the spies, how the scouts reported that it was a good land, but Shabbat Afternoon Service 7:30 PM the people flouted G-d's command and refused to go into the land, instead murmuring in their tents about reports of people stronger and taller than they and large cities with sky-high walls. Moses recounted that G-d became angry and vowed that not one of the men of that Birthday Wishes generation would see the good land that G-d swore to their fathers, except Caleb because he remained loyal to G-d. Moses complained that because of the people, G-d was incensed with

Moses too, and told him that he would not enter the land either but Joshua would enter the land. Moses told how the people replied that now they would go up and fight. Despite Moses

warning them not to, as G-d would not travel in their midst and they would be routed by their Mrs. Elissa Vessal enemies, they would not listen and the Amorites crushed them at Hormah. Mr. Stephen Keller Moses recalled how they remained at Kadesh a long time, then marched back into the Dr. Nielufar Kaye wilderness. Moses recounts how G-d instructed them regarding three nations whose land Mr. Uzi Huga was off-limits for them: Seir (Edom), Moab and Amon. These lands were the rightful Mr. Carlos Duec inheritance of the descendants of Esau and Lot. Is the menu of the affected on the preceding Shabbat of Tish'a Be'Ab?

It is clearly permissible to eat meat on the Shabbat before Tish'a Be'Ab, even if

Tish'a Be'Ab begins on Mosa'eh Shabbat. In fact, the Magen Abraham (Rabbi Phone calls and cards to wish someone Abraham Gombiner, Poland, 1637-1682) writes that it is considered sinful to abstain from meat on the Shabbat before Tish'a Be'ab, and such a practice is a "Minhag Ta'ut" - a Refuah Shelemah are appreciated. an erroneous custom. Even during Se'uda Shelishit, one may eat meat and have a lavish meal. The Shulhan Arukh writes that one's Se'uda Shelishit before Tish'a Be'Ab Our thanks to may be "like the meal of King Shelomo in his time." Mr. Israel Roizman There is always a L'ellah (Hatsi) Kaddish said after the reading of the Torah in the for donating the beautiful weekly morning. It precedes the and reading. This is done to indicate that the flower arrangements at the obligatory reading has been concluded. In contrast, after the reading of the Torah in Minha (afternoon service) we do not say the Kaddish. Even on Tish'a BeAb and Kippur Hekhal. when we read a Haftarah after the we still don't say the Kaddish. The reason is that we have to be aware that the Kaddish, in addition to being praises to the Name of The Almighty, serves as a separation between parts of the services.

6 Ab 5777 Shabbat Moses Debarim recounted how(Hazzon) G-d instructed them to set out across July the river 29, Arnon, 2017 to attack Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and occupy his land. Sihon and his men took the field but Thank you to G-d delivered him to the Israelites, and they defeated him and captured all his towns, leaving no survivor, retaining as booty only the cattle and the spoil. Moses recounted how King Og of Bashan and his men took the field against them at Edrei, but G-d delivered King Og of Mrs. Fran Levy Bashan, his men, and his 60 towns into their hands, and they left no survivor. Og was so big and that his iron bedstead was nine long and four cubits wide. Moses recounted how he assigned land to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Mrs. Fran Cupersmith Manasseh. He told again how he charged them that even though they had already received for donating the weekly flower their land, they needed to serve as troops at the head of their kinsmen, leaving only their wives, children, and livestock in the towns that Moses had assigned to them, until G-d had arrangements on the Shabbat and granted the people their land west of the Jordan. He also recounted how he charged Joshua holiday tables. not to fear the kingdoms west of the Jordan, for G-d would battle for him and would do to all those kingdoms just as G-d had done to Sihon and Og.

Thank you to the following people who made a contribution this week: This week's Haftarah is from Isaiah and will be read by Rabbi Albert Gabbai in memory of Mr. Robert Aboudi his brother, Mr. Baruch Gabbai.

Mr. Zev Guttman Mr. Jonathan Kleinbard Mr. Michael Kornblum In the case of Minha, the separation will occur only after the return of the Torah to the Mr. Leon L. Levy Hekhal. The Maftir is effectively the third of three people called to the Torah. It is our Minhag that the Minister of the Congregation reads the Haftarah of Shabbat Mr. Albert Mitzner Mr. Nate Naness Hazon (the Shabbat preceding TBA). The reason is that this Haftarah (like the other preceding two) contains the reprimands that G-d gave to his People. In this way it will Mr. Sharon Niv hopefully stir people to the proper path. Mr. William Vessal The Torah reading on TBA in the morning is read in a softer voice and with barely Mr. David & Mrs. Tzvia Wexler chanted Ta'amim. The reason is obvious. Torah reading is a very happy occurrence. Mr. Mark Wolfson However, on this day of national mourning, we can't bring ourselves to that high level. In contrast, the Torah reading of Minha of TBA is read in a loud voice and fully chanted Ta'amim. The prophet Zachariah said that the four fasts pertaining to our national calamities will be changed in the future to days of happiness and gladness (LeSasson UlSimha). May we merit seeing these days. Amen.
