FROM THE ARCHIVES By Bloomsburg University Archivist Bob Dunkelberger

Bloomsburg’s 483 yards rushing versus Gannon are the third most in Danny Hale’s 20 seasons as head coach. The top two are 541 against Cheyney in 2004 and 512 versus Mansfield in 1996.

The 382 rushing yards for Franklyn Quiteh and Eddie Mateo on Saturday are the most combined yards for two 100-yard backs in the same game under Danny Hale.

Bloomsburg has scored at least 30 points in the first five games of the year for the first time in school history and now have a six game streak dating back to last season. That ties the longest in the history of the football program, which has been done twice before. In 2000 the Huskies accomplished this in the last six games of the season, going 5-1 with the final four being in the NCAA play-offs ending with a loss to Delta State in the national title game. The second time was in the last five games of 2007 and first of 2008, all wins.

A Danny Hale coached Bloomsburg team has scored 30 or more points in at least three straight games 18 times since 1995. This was only done three times in program history before that: 3 games in 1915 and in 1951 and in 4 consecutive in 1967.

The current streak of three straight 40-point games is only the sixth time in school history this has been done, all since 1998 under Danny Hale. The school record is four consecutive set in 2005.

The 43 points against Gannon was the 101st time a Bloomsburg football team has scored 40 or more points in a game ver- sus collegiate competition, 78 times under Danny Hale and 23 before his tenure began in 1993. The Huskies record in those games is 99-2, with losses of 42-40 to IUP in 2003 and 42-41 to Edinboro in 2007. The team’s all-time record when scoring 42 or more points is 82-0, with 66 of those coming under Danny Hale.

The 203 total points scored thus far in 2012 are the third most in the first five games of a season. The top two are 212 in 2005 when the Huskies finished 11-1 averaging 38.8 points per game, and 209 in 1996 when they completed a 10-2 season with a 40.6 scoring average.

The Huskies have now won their first five games for the 12th time in 115 seasons of football. It was first done in 1903, five times from 1948-60, in 1985, and now five times since 2005.

Bloomsburg’s all-time record versus Millersville is 39-30-5, 23-11-4 at home and 16-19-1 on the road. Under Danny Hale the Huskies are 14-4-1, 7-2-1 at home and on the road 7-2. The first meeting was a 67-0 Bloomsburg victory in 1916. The Huskies have defeated Millersville 12 consecutive times, the fifth longest streak in school history against one opponent. The longest is their current 22-game victory streak over Cheyney.
