    Ikaruga: la potenza proveniente da due energie Boom! Kaboom! Spepepepeum! Quanto è bello provocare il caos a bordo di una navicella spaziale che svolazza a tutta birra nel cielo! Il genere shoot ‘em up è un vero e proprio pilastro del gaming moderno, basti pensare a titoli come Space Invaders, Galaga, Xevious, Gradius o R-Type per capire il peso di questa categoria nella storia del gaming. Col tempo, nonostante le uscite continue di ottimi shooter come Thunder Force V, Einhänder o Darius Gaiden, il genere è stato messo in disparte per giochi meno arcade e più focalizzati sulle storyline, ma oggi, grazie ai diversiShmup indipendenti su Steam e Nintendo Switch, si sta assistendo a un vero e proprio revival di questo genere. Insieme ai nuovi titoli, come Super Hydorah, Crimzon Clover WORLD IGNITION e i bullet hell di Cave, ci sono da tenere in considerazione tutti i classici riscoperti in questo periodo, primi fra tutti gli shooter di Treasure, considerati dagli appassionati i più raffinati del genere. Oggi su Dusty Rooms, per il suo26esimo anniversario dalla sua importante uscita suSega Dreamcast, vi parleremo di Ikaruga, uno shooter unico nel suo genere, considerato un must per coloro che vogliono esplorare questo genere videoludico e della sua importanza nella scena videoludica generale. Radici e meccaniche In pochi sanno che Ikaruga è in realtà un sequel spirituale di Radiant Silvergun, altro fantastico shooter di Treasure uscito prima per arcade e poi per Sega Saturn (ove diventò un cult classic fra i suoi collezionisti). Il suo titolo in fase di progettazione era proprio Radiant Silvergun 2 ma, con l’evolversi dello sviluppo, il gioco assunse sembianze quasi totalmente diverse nonostante mantenne alcune delle sue caratteristiche chiave: il mantenuto design generale, un rimando alla storia del suo prequel spirituale (che vedrete alla fine del gioco), l’assenza totale di power up e il suo sistema di combo basato sul distruggere i nemici di uno stesso colore.
