Kudz Ze Kayah Project Proposal

In January 2018 YESAB declared BMC’s KZK Project Proposal adequate for assessment. The Project Proposal is now in the Screening stage of YESAB’s environmental assessment process. As part of this stage there was an initial 60 day public review and comment period, ending on March 16th. YESAB reviewed the comments they received, compiled them, and requested BMC provide additional information to support their assessment. We are currently preparing the requested information.

The effects of the proposed Project on the water quality in the area has been one of the most discussed issues during community consultations and has entailed the largest volume of environmental studies BMC has undertaken. In April 2018 BMC completed the third consecutive year of environmental baseline studies at KZK, these studies are ongoing and will continue for the life of the Project. These studies will continue to help to identify measures, throughout all stages of the proposed Project, to limit the impacts on the natural environment. They will also help inform the reclamation of the mine site such that affected areas are returned to viable and self-sustaining ecosystems that are compatible with a healthy environment and with traditional land use activities.

In January, BMC was the Gold Sponsor of Yukon Night at the Association for Mineral Exploration’s annual mining conference in Vancouver. BMC’s entire management team attended Yukon Night and greeted attendees as they arrived. BMC’s CEO, Scott Donaldson also presented the opening address highlighting the positives of mining in Yukon an established, stable mining region. He pointed out that by investing in the Yukon, BMC was investing in growing local communities, supporting local businesses and growing employment opportunities by investing in education through scholarships, training programs and skills advancement. BMC are proud to be a part of Yukon’s mining community.
