Ash Wednesday is NEXT Wednesday 13th - the beginning of Lent, our preparation for Easter. It is a day of Fast and abstinence. Which means we fast and have one full meal and two small meals and abstain from meat on this day. It is one of two days in the year when we do this the other day is Good Friday. Mass at 9:30am and 7:30pm on Ash Wednesday to facilitate people attending. Ashes will be blessed and distributed at both Masses.

Dogs attacking sheep in the Coolarne area. Dog owners are asked to ensure their dogs are under control at all times after sheep were badly ravaged by dogs in the area last week. Please ensure your dog is locked up especially after dark.

Lackagh Museum AGM: will take place in the Parish Centre NEXT Friday 15th at 8pm. There is an open invitation to everyone interested in promoting community development, heritage, adult education and care for elderly to attend. Your skills and talents are needed to help plan for the future. Everyone has something to offer. So why not come along and be part of this voluntary group to work within the community for the benefit of the community.

Bawnmore National School celebrates 150 years in existence this year. The staff, pupils and Board of Management of the school would like to invite you, members of the community, to a ‘Community Information Gathering Night’, which will be held in the school hall on Thursday, February 21st at 7.30pm. The purpose of the evening is to provide an opportunity to the wider community to share stories, photographs or memorabilia which reflect how life was in Bawnmore and the surrounding area in times gone by. The Oranmore local area Forum AGM for community and voluntary groups is on Monday, Feb 11th at 7.30pm in the Lackagh Parish Centre. Coláiste Néifinn - Irish Summer College is enrolling now for a 2 week course in Glenamaddy Community School on July 8th-19th inclusive. It will be run daily from 10am-5pm.
