WELCOME TO THE “POWER OF THE BRANDS” MBJ Ranch and TRIO & Genetics are eager to welcome our Red Brangus and Bran- gus family, friends, clients, and partners to the home of MBJ Ranch. We have had a long and successful partnership because we are one in thought when it comes to working with integrity and quality. You will find the influence of our genetics in each other’s herds. They have proven to complement and enhance each other in the quality of elite phenotypes and the depth of inherent productivity.

The MBJ & TRIO Power of the Brands sale was named as such as we have worked for years, decades and generations to build our brands thru our cattle and service to signify quality, superiority, and integrity. In this offering you will have access to the same cutting-edge genetics and cattle that we are building our future on. We believe that the sharing and access to genetics and builds opportunity for our breed to thrive.

With heritage steeped in the Brazilian cattle history, the MBJ brand and Marcos are descendants of the Machado Borges and Lamartine Mendes families. Both families have been pillars of the Zebu breeds in Brazil for many decades. Marcos and his family proud- ly joined the Brazilian visionary Paulo Brito and the OB Ranch project for 25 years. In 1995, Marcos purchased a group of highly selected Red Brangus females from the recognized Mears herd to start the MBJ Ranch Red Brangus operation. Throughout the years, from one generation to the next, we have placed the highest priority on breeding performance-oriented cattle, making sure that our cattle could adapt and do well in all environments. To raise our program to the next level, in the past years we have made a concerted effort to build and refine our elite herd. The MBJ Performance and Elite herds will meet just about every objective, from raising bulls for the commercial cattleman to registered replacement heifers to a competitive show heifer. You will find our MBJ genetics behind many of the most powerful and efficient Red Brangus cattle in the U.S., , and around the Brangus world. We are proud to say that after selecting and partnering with fifty donors at Fagan Ranch our program is now one of the largest owners of the incomparable maternal Sureway line. We are also proud of the maternal families, and sire lines presented in this sale. They have improved the lives of our family and the families that have incorporated our genetics.

TRIO Cattle & Genetics was founded in 2004 as a partnership dedicated to the breeding and promotion of superior cattle. This foundation extends to our business philosophy and our approach to working with our clients and partners. We have been fortunate to produce and exhibit 17 National Grand Champi- on and Reserve Grand Champions Females and Bulls since 2004. The influence of our sires can be found on five continents and over 13 countries.

Our common goal is simple - to develop Red Brangus and Brangus cattle that are right for the beef industry today and tomorrow. Achieving this goal is more complex. We believe that EPDs and DNA testing are essential and valuable tools to combine with visual selection and appraisal. We strive to blend leading genotypes for performance and carcass data with the structurally correct, heavily muscled, high capacity, well-balanced quality phenotypes that will appeal to all cattlemen. We dedicate an extraordinary amount of time thinking how to breed better beef. We spend time studying bloodlines, EPDs and genetic data; and then planning matings that we believe will optimize the genetic potential of our donors and sires. We emphasize economically important traits of performance and efficiency in a phenotypically desirable package.

TRIO and MBJ have a pledge to our partners and clients. In us you will find partners that believe simply providing superior genetics is not enough. You can be confident that we are vested in your success. Partnership and service have been vital components of our longevity and our achievements. Whether you are a purebred breeder, commercial cattleman or junior exhibitor, we strive to provide you with proven genetics, experienced management, and an innova- tive genetic program for you to build on. Every offering here such an opportunity.

There are so many to extend our deepest gratitude. To our families, thank you for working side by side with us. To our closest TRIO and MBJ team members, thank you for your unwavering dedication. To our partners and clients, your belief in our genetic program and cattle give us the enthusiasm to think about can we do next and better to advance the opportunities for everyone. You all provide the Power to our Brands.

INTERNATIONAL BRANGUS FOUNDATION DONATIONS The Foundation’s conduct research, investigations, and experiments in the breeding of Brangus cattle, to facilitate and promote the participation of Brangus cattle in exhibitions, and to engage in such other activities that generally or incidentally promote the breed.

The Foundation’s objectives are to fund projects with the purpose of advancing the livestock industry benefiting Brangus breeders and other beef producers today, and in the future. Education and research are at the core of the programs the Foundation funds and support. Their goal is to educate the beef cattle industry on topics such as Brangus genetics and production practices.

Several of the Foundations most recent investments have been: • Dr. Raluca Mateescu in her genomic and shear force work on the Genomics of Meat Quality and Tenderness. • The University of Missouri hair shedding project • Brangus Value Project, which is part of the Long-Term Plan. The goal is producing over 500 of AI Brangus sired calves to follow thru and study through the feedlot and packing house. • Focus 75 which is the in-depth interview of 75 key industry professional to learn about the perception of Brangus and Red Brangus through out the sectors of the beef industry.

TRIO Cattle & Genetics and MBJ Ranch support and believe in the mission of the Brangus Foundation and is donating $10 from each lot to the Foundation. We encourage every Red Brangus and Brangus to follow the projects and efforts of the Brangus Foundation and consider giving a portion of every head you sell to further research and promotion of our breed. THE MARCOS BORGES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The International Red Brangus Breeders Association Memorial Scholarship Foundation was established as a tribute to pioneering Red Brangus Breeders to further the education of young Brangus cattlemen and cattlewomen. A series of these scholarships honors the life and memory of Marcos Borges, the son and brother of Marcos Jr., Adriane and Stephanie. Marcos will always be remembered for his inquisitive intelligence and awesome talent as a world class soccer player.

The Borges family has committed to honoring Marcos’s life through annual scholarship for junior breeders and athletes so that they may pursue the goals, talents and ambitions. The proceeds of these offerings will go further endow these awards.

The first offerings are two paintings by artist Rigo Barba. The winning bidders will send photos of their animals to be painted. You will be able to see several of Barb’s paintings created for the Borges family at the sale.

The second offering is an Arrowquip headgate. MBJ Equipment is the exclusive dealer of Arrowquip for this region of Texas. MBJ would like to thank Arrowquip for their support. Statesman 100S is one such Red Brangus sire. Very limited semen is remains to be offered and it is only in a special event that he will be offered. No other semen will be offered this year. CSS qualified for export. Statesman set the Red Brangus world in a new trajectory in 2007 when he stepped in the ring at the Houston Livestock Show, claiming National Grand Champion honors as a yearling. Statesman is as unique of an indi¬vidual as we have developed in disposition, inherent performance, and ability to pass his most desirable traits along to his progeny. Known for his muscle, structure, and performance metrics, he still remains one the most balanced performance Red Brangus sires on paper. With progeny around the Brangus World, his influence is extensive and is carried through some of the most notable names in today’s Red Brangus pedigree’s. His progeny include CEO 175C5 the 2018 World Brangus Congress Grand Champion Bull, Zamy 175Z2 the 2014 National Grand Champion Female and dam of Francisco 175F2, Zoltar 175Z2 the 2013 Reserve National Grand Champion Bull and head¬line sire at Select Sires, Wiseguy 269W the 2011 Reserve National Grand Champion Bull bred by MBJ Ranch and Triumph 175T his first son that was the 2009 Reserve National Grand Champion Bull. When Statesman’s name is mentioned and seen in a pedigree, you know that this is an animal of uncommon quality and performance. Among Active Red Brangus Sires: Top 10% WW, Top 5% YW, Top 15% REA, Top 10% TI. Rare Semen Offering!
