Use only motor vehicle rights of way

A map of the public rights of way network including details of any restrictions is available at: http://www.kent.gov.uk/prowmap (note: please ensure you turn the public rights of way layer on in the key to view the network and restrictions in place).

Alternatively, the definitive map and statement may be viewed at Invicta House, County Hall, Maidstone on Monday to Friday between 10am and 4pm. To arrange a viewing, call 03000 41 11 01. Please book a week in advance.

Copies of the definitive map are also available to view at some Kent libraries, further details are available here.

Before setting out please ensure that both you and your vehicle are fully road legal, that is:

 Taxed.  Roadworthy – holding a current MOT certificate where required.  Insured.  Showing a visible number plate.  You hold the necessary driving license.

Please do:

 Respect the life of the countryside and other users and follow the countryside code.  Keep to the defined route and where a running surface has been provided and restrict your use to that area.  Please give way to other users and switch off your engine if appropriate to enable them to pass.  Travel at a safe and appropriate speed for the conditions and location. Voluntary maximum 25mph.  If travelling in a group please keep numbers small (maximum recommended 6 motorcycles or 4 four wheel drive vehicles).  Remember that not all routes with vehicular rights are appropriate for vehicle use at all times.

Please do not:

 Use routes in poor weather or in wet conditions when vehicle use is likely to result in surface damage.  Use routes that are likely to be damaged by the weight of your vehicle.  Use routes that are too narrow for your motor vehicle.  Use winches; their use can be damaging to trees and property.  Drive on verges or the edges of any surfaced area.
