When called to look at a Major PC/Laptop problem or failure, the first question asked is, “Have you backed up your Data?” Inevitably the answer is No! Most Customers have Important Documents and irreplaceable Photos to be retrieved.

Well backing up can be so easy nowadays with the availability of USB Memory Pens (sticks), Flash Drives and Portable Hard Drives. Portable Hard Drives are now the most sensible option, as a 500 GB. (Which would probably be equal to or larger than the one inside the PC) costs around £40. Most only requiring 1 USB Port.

Many Portable Hard Drives have built in Software, which once installed, will back up files automatically when connected to PC/Laptop

There several further ways of Backing up. Both Windows 7 & 8 have a Back Up and Restore facility, found in the Control Panel. Here you can select what Files and at what Intervals, to Back up. It is always advisable to set the Back up to an External Device, i.e. Portable Hard Drive(Connected prior to starting this Facility) or DVDs.

Alternatively plug in the External USB device, wait until it is seen by the PC/Laptop, Right Click on the File/Folders which you chose to save, a Menu appears, Scroll down to Send To, then on the menu which appears, Left Click on the Name which relates to your USB Device. You will now see your Data being copied. The time taken will depend on the size of Data to be transferred.

For the more competent User, you can Drag and Drop, go to My Computer, Double Click on the Drive to which you wish to save your Data, to open the Window. Now Find the Files you wish to save, Left Click and hold the Mouse down, drag to Window and release Mouse. When copied you will see them in the opened Window.

The latest way for Backing up are SkyDrive for Windows, For Apple users , you also have the Option of iCloud

26 Rotary Club of Broadlands February 2013 Newsletter The week before Christmas members of the Rotary Club of Broadlands were pleased to be able to transport some of the 8 to 10 year old students from St. John’s Community and Primary School and Nursery, in Hoveton, to display their singing talents to the local community during the festive period. The club organised a mini - bus to take the cast and their Teaching Assistant Ann Roberts around the Wroxham and Hoveton area. In all around 15 different locations were visited over a two day period. The venues varied between local care homes, private dwellings and the reception in the Doctors Surgery in Hoveton where the children entertained the waiting patients and the staff. The repertoire was from the School’s Pantomime which this year was an updated Cinderella. Instead of being the Prince he was a Rock Star and Cinderella was a member of the audience at one of his Rock Concerts. The storyline however remained fairly similar. It was all good fun and at the end of each session the pupils gave out handmade Christmas cards which were exchanged for drinks and chocolate. The Rotary Club of Broadlands is always looking for new members so if you would like to give something back to the community, have fun and make new friends, find out more about us. Please telephone Richard Mayer on 01603 715796.

COLTISHALL & HORSTEAD W.I

We had a delightfully busy month in December which began with 6 members attending a concert at the Assembly House given by `Mixed Voices`, a group of young singers and musicians who entertained with a variety of seasonal songs; after all the shopping, cooking and general preparations for Christmas, this was the perfect way to start traditional celebrations away from the hurly-burly. Our party for members and guests was enjoyed by all and , as usual, the food and company were both excellent. Pianist Annette Jude and singer Susie Turner entertained with festive songs, and tunes from popular musicals encouraging everyone present to join in. A great evening. The W.I. dinner, at the Norfolk Mead Hotel, gave those who attended a perfect taste of Christmas. From canapés and sparkling wine by the log fire through to the coffee and mince pies we were thoroughly spoiled. In January the meeting was cancelled due to ice and snow and we hope the way will be clear (and the weather too) to enable some NEATISHEAD COMMUNITY GYM of our members to get to the Theatre Royal where we shall see Now is the time of year when many of us think seriously `Sweeny Todd` , our first outing of 2013. 33 Family Friendly Church

At BroadGrace we aim to be friendly and welcoming for everyone who comes, especially for those who have never been to church before. We always explain what is going on and try not to use jargon or old- fashioned language, because Jesus is a living God, not a museum piece! Like a café, we sit around tables and it is all pretty relaxed. During the meeting, we have lots of tea, coffee and cakes with a proper supper for the children as well as Bible reading, a talk and songs.

Children and families are particularly welcome. We have toys, games, activity and colouring sheets each week as well as parts of the service aimed at younger ones. The Nintendo Wii on the big screen [Mary Poppins] that we get going at the end of the meeting is always popular too.

Our church meets each Sunday at 4pm. We will be at Broadland Community Centre, Stalham Road, Hoveton each Sunday in February. It is always worth checking our website if you’re thinking of coming along, just to confirm where we are that Sunday : www.broadgrace.org.uk
