MEET THE 2017 AWARD RECIPIENTS:

Javier Marquez Javier Marquez is a Sergeant with the State . He has 27 years of public service. Sergeant Marquez has been with the Oregon since 2000 and has worked as a patrol trooper, detective and currently serves as a Sergeant in Ontario with the Major Crimes Section in the Criminal Investigations Division. Before joining the Oregon State Police, Sergeant Marquez spent ten years in the Marine Corps, and more than two years as a correctional officer. He and his wife of 20 years, Consuelo, have four children, Eric, Josanna, Breanna, and Abraham. Sergeant Marquez and his family enjoy school and outdoor activities like camping, fishing and hunting.

Damian Acosta

Damian Acosta is a Detective with the Oregon State Police. He has 24 years of public service. Detective Acosta has been with the Oregon State Police since 1999 and has worked as a patrol trooper and a detective in Ontario with the Major Crimes Section in the Criminal Investigations Division. He currently serves as the East Region Polygraph Examiner. Before joining the Oregon State Police, Detective Acosta spent time serving in the Idaho Army National Guard, working in Oregon and Idaho as a correctional officer, and serving as a Detention Deputy in the Canyon County Sheriff’s Department in Idaho. He and his wife of 21 years, Veronica, have two children, Christopher and Noelle. They enjoy family activities, school activities, outdoor activities, church activities and Judo training.
