Lee Valley VeloPark Venue Specific Rules and Regulations Issue 1 These Rules and Regulations are incorporated into the Authority’s Standard Terms and Conditions of Sale. Words defined in the Standard Terms and Conditions of Sale (and in the VeloPark Specific Terms and Conditions) have the same meaning in these Rules and Regulations. General Site Information The Authority operates several activities simultaneously at the VeloPark and it is important that all activities are controlled in the interest of public safety. The facility is shared by a range of different user groups and we encourage users to show mutual respect towards each other. For the safety and enjoyment of all users, please read the following rules and regulations: Site Information • Please obey any staff requests and all safety and information signs when visiting the VeloPark. • Operating hours have seasonal variations, therefore we recommend calling in advance to check opening hours. • There is a café located on site and opening hours are also seasonal. To avoid disappointment, we recommend calling to confirm opening times. • Eating and drinking within the Velodrome is only permitted in the cafeteria area, designated meeting rooms, concourse, vending and Track Infield areas. Only food and drink purchased from the cafeteria and vending machines is permitted to be consumed within the venue. No food or drinks are to be consumed or taken onto the blue safety zone. • Please observe the site speed limit (15 mph) and road markings and remain on the road when driving in the vicinity of the VeloPark. Please park in marked bays only and not on grassed areas or on access roads. • Vehicles should not be left onsite overnight. If left overnight, vehicles may be removed and removal/storage charges applied. • The site is unsuitable for dogs and no dogs (other than guide dogs for the blind) may be brought into the indoor areas of the VeloPark. Any such dogs must be kept on leads whilst at the VeloPark. • Picnics are permitted on grassed areas adjoining the site, however, BBQ’s and fires are not permitted. Please ensure you have no glass anywhere near cycle ways. • Swimming in any waterways adjacent to the VeloPark is not permitted. • Please stay on footpaths around the courses and use the footbridges supplied. • Please use the changing rooms provided and do not leave any items unattended. Please respect the changing rooms as they are used by a wide range of patrons. • Keep all public areas free of damp sports clothing and equipment, including café, Infield area, paths, changing rooms and fencing. • Club coaches/instructors not currently based at the VeloPark must contact the VeloPark Management Team in advance before conducting any activity at the VeloPark. General Safety Information • All visitors must report to reception on arrival at the VeloPark. • Booking of hire equipment is via reception. • Users are advised to bring their own chain and lock to secure their bike up at the cycling parking stations. • Users cannot change in the track Infield or outside areas, including the car park. Changing rooms are provided. • On booking an activity, Users will be given a date and time activity strap which they must attach to their helmet and which must be visible and worn at all times. Without a strap Users will not be allowed to cycle, will be asked to provide their booking confirmation and where no such confirmation is provided Users will be asked to leave the VeloPark. • Users must ensure wheels, tyres and frames are free of dirt and dust before entering the VeloPark and before starting and on finishing the activity they are participating in. Bikes with dirty tyres will not be allowed in the VeloPark or on the relevant activity’s surface until cleaned. • Bikes must not be taken beyond the boundaries of the cycling area, must only be used on the discipline surface they are designed for and hire bikes must not be taken into the car park. • Only track bikes are allowed in the inner parts of the Velodrome, and these must be hung on the stands provided whilst booking in and then be carried into the Infield. • Road, BMX and Mountain bikes must not be bought into the Velodrome unless carried and hung on the stands provided whilst booking in to the activity. • Bikes must not be ridden inside the Velodrome (other than in the designated areas referred to below) and where possible bikes brought into the VeloPark should be carried. • Track bikes may only be ridden in designated areas (i.e. Velodrome Track or Track Infield) and only when instructed to do so. • Under no circumstances may Users switch between disciplines during a session. • Road & track bikes must not be used under any circumstances on the Mountain Trails, BMX or Pump Tracks. Bikes must only be used for the discipline they were designed for unless permission is granted by the VeloPark Management. • Users must follow the safety rules at all times and only go in the direction of travel indicated on each discipline. • Be aware of your surroundings and other Users at all times. • No objects may be thrown within the VeloPark. • Users are advised not to eat 2 hours before cycling and must not eat anything whilst riding. • All accidents and incidents should be reported – either to VeloPark reception or a Duty Manager. • Anyone behaving irresponsibly with a VeloPark hire bike will have the bike taken away and shall not be entitled to any refund whatsoever. • Smoking (including electronic cigarettes or any other artificial cigarettes or smoking devices), chewing gum and the use of illegal non- prescription drugs are not permitted anywhere within the VeloPark, which for the avoidance of doubt includes the car park and all outside areas. Any person in possession, or under the influence, of any such substances will be refused admission and shall not be entitled to a refund. • Any person that is suspected to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs and therefore unfit to participate in an activity will be refused admission and shall not be entitled to a refund. • Riders must not spit or clear their nose onto any activity surface. • Sound and video recording equipment (including but not limited to cameras and mobile devices with recording functions) are not permitted inside the VeloPark, without the Authority’s prior written consent. • Mobile phones must be switched off or placed on silent mode at all times inside the Track Infield area of the Velodrome. Please remember that the VeloPark is situated within a park which is accessible to the general public. Bike and Equipment Hire Rules • All VeloPark bikes are computer-chipped and we shall take all appropriate action against anyone stealing equipment. • Users may only use the bicycle that has been allocated to them. • For the duration of the hire of VeloPark equipment, such equipment is the hirer’s responsibility. It should not be left unattended and may only be used by the hirer. Any loss of such equipment will be charged to the hirer. • If you are hiring the VeloPark’s cleat shoes you must wear socks. Damage • Users must report any damage to a VeloPark bicycle of which they are aware, prior to their use, to VeloPark staff within the equipment hire room. • Immediately after finishing the booked activity, Users must return the bicycle to the equipment hire room where it will be checked and signed in by a member of staff before any deposit can be returned. • Damage to bikes that is not within limits of normal wear and tear will incur a charge which is taken from the deposit. Safety Equipment / Equipment Hire Restrictions: • Standard Hire Bikes - Whilst our activities have no specific weight limit, Users over 109kgs (17st 2lbs) wishing to hire road and track bikes or over 120kgs (18st 12lbs) wishing to hire mountain bikes must contact the VeloPark staff before making a booking to discuss their individual requirements. • Whilst our activities have no specific height restrictions Users under 4ft 9in (145cm) wishing to hire road and track bikes or under 4ft 5in (135cm) wishing to hire mountain bikes must contact the VeloPark staff before making a booking to discuss their individual requirements.
