Memo To: Chiefs of Regional Education Council #3 From: Andrea Crawford, Acting Director of Education Date: October 22, 2020 Re: Board of Directors Elections for the Kinoomaadziwin Education Body As indicated in a formal invitation to the 23 Participating First Nations (PFN) Gathering, virtual elections for four positions on the KEB Board of Directors will take place on November 17, 2020. In keeping with the staggered three-year terms, the term of office for one director in each of the four Regional Education Councils (RECs) will end on November 17. The remaining directors in each region will continue to serve on the board until the end of their respective terms. (please see appendix 2) In REC #3, the term of office will end for Marianna Couchie (Nipissing First Nation). Marianna is eligible to be nominated and re-elected, or any other nominated candidate may be eligible to be elected to a three-year term of office from 2020-2023. Each Participating First Nation in REC #3 may nominate candidates for consideration by the voting delegates of REC #3. The regional selection process that was approved by Anishinabek Grand Council Resolution should be followed, in order to ensure a thorough election. (please see appendix 4) The voting delegates in REC #3 will vote to elect one of the nominated candidates for the region. A quorum of four (4) First Nations from the region is required on November 17, in order for REC #3 to select a board member. Each of the First Nations in REC #3 is entitled to one vote in the board selection process.
