The Area is ratified by authorized agency for excavation of sand has known minable sand reserve. Applicant Shri Laxman Singh S/o Shri Amar Singh, Resi. Vill. Bani, TH. & Distt. Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh has been granted mine ‘on auction’ of river sand for 5 years in 2016. The total qualified area is 9.890 hectare. The proposed production is 2969 CUM / annum.

The environment management plan has been prepared for the open cast mining operation of river sand with capacity of 2969 m3 per year. The EMP includes formulation, implementation and monitoring of environmental protection measures during operation of the project. The EMP lists all these measures for the mining activities. The EMP is prepared keeping in view all possible strategies oriented towards impact minimization.

Objectives:-

 To anticipate the impact of proposed mining operation on the environment.  To prepare an action plan for implementation of ameliorative measures.  To suggest preventive and ameliorative measures to minimize calamities and maximize beneficial impacts.  To suggest post operational monitoring programmes for ameliorative measures to ensure environment quality.  To suggest formation of a core group responsible for implementation of protective measures.  To prepare capital cost estimate and annual recurring cost for Environmental Management Plan.

Ameliorative measures at the source level and overall management plan are proposed for environment conservation. The environmental attributes, which are likely to be affected, are land use, topography, water resources, soil, air quality, socio-economic status, ecology and public health.

Influence on ecosystem

The potential sources of ecosystem unbalance arising from the existing is observed from excavation of mineral, waste dumps, haul roads and transportation of mineral in the vicinity. However ameliorative measures indicates for desirability that air quality should be monitored on a regular basis.

The environmental control measures have been proposed to control dust release during river sand excavation. During the mining of river sand following measures has been taken to mitigate the effect of river sand mining operation over ecosystem.  Frequent Water spraying on the haulage roads, services road & dump area.  Dust masks have been provided to workers.  Regular maintenance of vehicles and machines have been carried out to control emissions All above measures is expected to be continue in future

 CO & NO2 levels The concentration of CO was less than 1.00ppm and can be controlled by proper

maintenance and servicing of vehicles. NO2 concentration can be controlled by proper maintenance and servicing of vehicles.

Noise level monitoring Noise level monitoring carried out in and around the existing quarry shows that expected noise levels are well within the stipulated limits of CPCB. The following control measures are being adopted to keep the ambient noise levels well below the limits:  Trees shall be planted on both sides of roads used for transport of men and material;  Silencers have been provided to modulate the noise generated by machines.  Installation of noise generating machinery, strictly in compliance with the recommendations of the manufacturers. This would ensure an installation free from vibration and exhaust leaks which are also major contributors to increased noise levels  Use of damping materials such as thin rubber sheet for wrapping the worn places of compressors, generators etc.  Acoustic treatment for rotating equipments. The workforce at the mining face (where high noise level is expected) have been provided with protective device for safety. Compulsory use of personnel protective equipment (PPE) such as ear plugs for the workers.

Hydrosphere analysis of the area The main drainage of the area is through river. The water table in the quarry area varies from 10 to 15 ft whereas mining will be done up to avg. 5.00 ft. above the surface level thus ground water table will not be touched during working period. Rainwater may get accumulated in the working pit which will be pumped out at village pond. It is ensured that silt content in the mines discharged is minimum and the quality of drinking water for the worker is hygienic.

Safety measures for flora and fauna The flora and fauna categories will not be affected due to proposed activity as there is no loss to both or any. The impact on these due to dust generation is minimized by well- developed green belt in and around mining lease area. The plantation matrix should be adopted for the green belt development includes pits of 0.3m x 0.3m x 0.3 m size with the spacing of 2.0 m x 2.0m.

Required plantation plan to minimize pollution The selection of plant species depends on various factors such as climate, elevation and soil. Area falls under tropical region and thus local species should be selected. As far as

BAWLIYA RIVER SAND AUCTION QUARRY possible, the species should be indigenous and locally available Soil improving plants (Nitrogen fixing, rapidly decomposable leaf litter). Plantation statistics

Health and Safety measures:-

Safety measures to avoid adverse affects on the health of workers due to dust & noise includes:  Provision of shelters for mine workers with amenities like drinking water, fans, toilets etc.  Provision of personal protection devices to the workers;  First-aid facilities in the mining area.  periodic health check up to ensure effective implementation of policy.

Safety accessories provided:-  Ear plugs.  Safety helmets  Gloves (PVC, asbestos, special rubber make)  Rubber sole shoes and gum boots  Safety shoes with toe protection  Safety belt with life line (leather, hard rubber or neoprene)

Socio economic Measures Socio-economic was been conducted in 4 to 5 villages of the study area out of villages. The selected villages under its CSR plan identifies the needs of the surrounding villages and

BAWLIYA RIVER SAND AUCTION QUARRY has developed a social management plan to benefit the surrounding areas. Thus the surrounding villages have been benefited from the mining activity. Local employed generated approximate 20 numbers as per the qualification and skill unskilled. Has already carried out number of welfare activities in the area like: Proposed CSR activate

 Samuhik Kanya Vivah  Deeping of local pond  Free Medical Camp (Eye & Dental check-up)  Contribute to Local Area Development Fund  Free drinking water supply facility to nearby village by Tanker
