Historical Note

The Hagley Museum was established in the aftermath of the DuPont Company's sesquicentennial in 1952. The museum preserved and partially restored the site of the original DuPont powder yards, which had closed 30 years before. It also documented and presented the early industrial history of the Brandywine Valley area.
