American cree que las nuevas iniciativas anunciadas hoy reforzarán la demanda de pasajeros hacia destinos en la red de Europa, Asia y Sudamérica, incluyendo su acuerdo --continúa-- American Airlines solidifica su compromiso con Nueva York 31 de marzo de 2010 Página 2 conjunto con British Airways e Iberia entre Norteamérica y Europa, el que se espera que se apruebe por reguladores y que se implemente a fines de este año. Cuando pueda consultar con British Airways e Iberia, una vez se materialice la aprobación regulatoria, American espera anunciar nuevos destinos internacionales los que se añadirían en el 2011 desde el Aeropuerto Internacional John F. Kennedy. Las mejoras sustentan los esfuerzos de American de ampliar sus bases de operaciones estratégicas tal y como fue anunciado en septiembre de 2009. La estrategia solidifica la red de American en los mercados de Nueva York, Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago, Miami y Los Ángeles. Estos mercados representan los centros de intercambio comercial más importantes de los Estados Unidos y son puentes aéreos significativos que proveen las mejores conexiones a la red global de American y la red de sus aerolíneas asociadas a través de la alianza oneworld. American también anunció una expansión de esfuerzos de mercadeo con NYC & Company, la organización oficial de mercadeo y turismo de la ciudad para asegurar que los clientes de Nueva York estuviesen al tanto de las mejoras recientes y futuras iniciativas. La Compañía cuenta con más de 11,000 empleados y retirados que llaman a Nueva York su casa y, como parte de los anuncios de hoy, American nombró a Art Torno como vicepresidente de Nueva York, quien tendrá bajo su responsabilidad las operaciones aeroportuarias y un amplio rol con respecto a las actividades de la Compañía en el mercado de Nueva York. Torno ha estado en American por más de 30 años, durante los cuales ha ocupado numerosos roles a nivel gerencial de creciente responsabilidad. “En Art Torno, el mercado de Nueva York contará con un profesional talentoso y comprometido que estará dedicado a las necesidades del mercado local”, dijo Arpey. “Estamos --continúa-- American Airlines solidifica su compromiso con Nueva York 31 de marzo de 2010 Página 3 seguros que su presencia afianzará aún más nuestra relación con esta gran ciudad y sus clientes”. Acuerdo con JetBlue American y JetBlue Airways anunciaron hoy un acuerdo de colaboración comercial en Nueva York y Boston que beneficia a los clientes de ambas aerolíneas. El acuerdo proveerá a los clientes conexiones entre aerolíneas en mercados en los que no compitan, lo que les dará más opciones y conexiones convenientes. Las compañías tambien están explorando otras oportunidades comerciales donde puedan cooperar. El acuerdo tendrá un enfoque en rutas desde y hacia JFK y el Aeropuerto Internacional Boston Logan que complementan y extienden la red de ambas. Por ejemplo, se podrá ofrecer un servicio conveniente para clientes que deseen volar sin escalas desde Nantucket a JFK en JetBlue y de ahí a Londres en American. De misma manera, clientes pueden abordar American de París a JFK y conectar convenientemente en un vuelo sin escalas de JetBlue a Burlington, Vermont. Los clientes de JetBlue tendrán acceso a conectar fácilmente con 12 de los destinos internacionales de American desde JFK y Boston incluyendo Barcelona, España; Sao Paulo, Brasil; y Tokio, Japón. En rutas domésticas donde las aerolíneas no compiten actualmente, los clientes de American pueden comprar boletos convenientes sin escalas de JetBlue desde JFK y Boston a 18 mercados domésticos incluyendo Portland, Maine; Nantucket; y Bulington, Vermont. Y en la medida en que reforzamos la red de American consecuentemente contribuimos a solidificar a oneworld como una alianza global superior a otras, la que cuenta con las mejores aerolíneas y redes de vuelos del mundo”. Algunas porciones del acuerdo de cooperación podrían estar sujetas a revisión de reguladores. Nuevas rutas con American y American Eagle Comenzando en el verano de 2010, American y American Eagle expandirán las rutas y el servicio que ofrecen a los clientes desde Nueva York. Incluyendo los previamente anunciados vuelos, a fines de año, entre LaGuardia y JFK combinados, American y American Eagle, añadirán 31 vuelos desde y hacia Nueva York en total a 13 rutas adicionales, lo que elevará el total de salidas desde y hacia Nueva York a 216 y a 63 destinos. Los anuncios de hoy incluyen siete nuevos destinos que se ofrecen a través de 23 nuevos vuelos de ida y vuelta. Cuando se combina con nuevas opciones para viajar con JetBlue, los clientes de American en Nueva York tendrán acceso a 81 destinos únicos en 271 vuelos sin escala a fines de 2010. Además, American ofrece servicio a cuatro destinos con 18 salidas diarias desde el Aeropuerto Internacional Liberty en Newark, Nueva Jersey. LaGuardia Los nuevos aviones de American Eagle, el Bombardier CRJ-700, configurado con primera clase y clase económica, volarán las rutas desde LaGuardia a Minneapolis/St. Paul cuatro veces al día, a Atlanta siete veces al día, y cinco veces al día a Charlotte, Carolina del Norte. Los CRJ-700s también se utilizarán para volar las rutas existentes entre LaGuardia y Toronto y Raleigh-Durham, Carolina del Norte, ofreciéndoles a los pasajeros de esos mercados acceso a un servicio de primera clase. American también aumentará los vuelos diarios desde y hacia Miami y Chicago a LaGuardia. Los nuevos vuelos expandirán la red doméstica de American y les dará a los clientes más importantes de la aerolínea acceso directo a mercados clave de negocios al igual que a sus clientes que viajan de placer opciones nuevas y competitivas.
