The Charleston RiverDogs built early leads that they twice saw erased as they were swept by the 2019 First-Half Standings Lexington Legends in a Saturday night doubleheader by final scores of 6-4 and 7-2 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Northern Division W L GB Delmarva (Orioles) 42 12 - Centerfielder Brandon Lockridge continued to showcase his power stroke from the leadoff spot Greensboro (Pirates) 36 18 6.0 despite the rough night for the RiverDogs, including hammering a 3-1 offering into the bleacher seats Hickory (Rangers) 35 20 7.5 in left for a two-run homer that gave Charleston an early 3-0 lead in game one. Doggie Bites Asheville (Rockies) 24 31 5.0 Asheville (Rockies) 24 31 5.0 • Locked In: Charleston center fielder Brandon Lockridge crushed his eighth of the Columbia (Mets) 21 34 8.0 season on Saturday’s game one, marking the team-leading eighth of the season for the speedy leadoff man with plenty of pop. The Florida native’s recent power stroke has been a continuing

trend for the Troy University product, marking his sixth home run in his last 19 games; Lockridge notched just one homer in 26 RiverDogs Quick Stats games in his pro debut last season and never had more than 6 in a single-season in three years at the collegiate level#. SecondThe -Half1 Divisionst Half Record: Winner 29-26 Pensacola native is hitting .342 (40-117) since May 1, which ranks sixth among qualifying hitters in the league in that stretch. 2nd Half Record: 0-0 His 28 XBH are T-3rd most in the league. After batting just .169 (13-for-77) over his first 19 games of the season in which he Road Record: 14-13 struck out at a 38 percent rate, Lockridge has hit .319 (43-for-135) in 31 games since, having cut his strikeout rate down to Home Record: 15-13 Current Streak: L2 19% over that span (29 SO/151 PA). He has now reached base safely in 19 straight games after tallying a hit in each game of Current Road Streak: L2 Saturday’s twin bill. Current Home Streak: L1 • Stowers Gets Weekly Nod: RiverDogs outfielder Josh Stowers was named the South Atlantic League’s “Player of the Week” This Road Trip: 1-2 for the period of May 20-26, a stretch in which the former Louisville Cardinal went 10-for-26 at the plate, including blasting four Last Homestand: 3-1 HR in four days in Asheville. The recent power stretch for the former 2nd rounder added another piece to the all-around Last Five: 2-3 talent’s skillset, with Stowers now owning 5 HR along with an impressive .278/.366/.451 slash line and leading Charleston with Last Ten: 6-4 13 stolen bases. Over the weeklong span, Stowers raised his slugging percentage nearly 100 points from .378 to .471. Since Team AVG (rank): .251 (3rd) Team HR (rank): 46 (5th) garnering the weekly award, he has gone just 1-for-12, including a current 0-for-10 slump that includes 6 strikeouts. Runs Scored: 259 (5th) • Holding Steady: After a 15-5 stretch from April 25-May 16, the RiverDogs have gone 5-9 over their last 14 games to maintain Team ERA (rank): 4.00 (9th) their first-place position in the SAL Southern Division, led by an improved lineup top to bottom. After ranking among the Team K (rank): 550 (3rd) bottom four in the league in runs scored (3.4 per game) over the first 20 games of the season, the RiverDogs have scored 192 Team SV (rank): 14 (T6th) runs over their last 35 games (2nd in the SAL in that span, 5.5/gm) with 162 allowed over that stretch. Charleston also leads 2019 vs. LEX: 1-2 the league in total hits (324) and doubles (85), is second in the SAL in total bases (523), hitting (.268), SLG (.433), OBP (.346), OPS (.779), and RBI (176) since the hot streak started on April 25. The club’s staff ERA is also 3.82 in that span, ranking fourth in the league. • Land of Canaan: Add Charleston outfielder Canaan Smith to the list of sizzling-hot RiverDogs hitters, as he owns a .363 (41-113) average in his last 28 games since the beginning of May, good for 3rd in the SAL in that span. During the hot streak, Smith has 17 extra base hits, 21 runs scored, 62 total bases and is slugging .549 with an OPS of .991. During his torrid stretch, he hit for the cycle in the 13-5 win on May 12 at Hickory, the first for the RiverDogs since July 6, 1997. He has enjoyed three separate hitting streaks of eight or more games this year, including a team-high 13 in a row from from 4/25-5/10 and a more recent stretch when he had hit safely in nine straight games from May 14-23. The Dallas, TX native has reached base safely in his last 19 contests. • Pinstriped Prospects: The RiverDogs will again tap into a deep farm system in the . Losing some of their organizational talent due to promotions and trades in the last year, the Yankees’ farm system fell from the second-best system in the game to 20th on the America rankings heading into 2019. Despite this, the Bronx Bombers are stocked with intriguing talent at the lower levels of the farm system, including six of the Yanks’ pre- season Top-30 prospects currently on the RiverDogs roster (MLB.com/BA): RHP Roansy Contreras (10/7), RHP Luis Medina (14/11), RHP Luis Gil (13/25), C Josh Breaux (15/30), OF Josh Stowers (25/--) and RHP Tanner Myatt (29/--).
