BBullyingullying

In this report I would like to talk about “Bullying”. “Bullying” someone means that you’re intimidating somebody and making him or her unhappy. A lot of children from different schools are passing through that sort of situation, being chased or being bitten up, feeling themselves very badly; that could even happen in this school and we don’t even notice it. I would also like to suggest to the children that are bullied or to their friends that they should ask for help to an adult, because these situations could get even worse. In some cases, being bullied during years can cause so much pain that some children even try to kill themselves.

A research made in some schools of Spain says that about 2% of the Spanish children suffer from this unfair situation of being bullied and it also claims that about 16% of the children and youngsters had participated of annoying and bullying others.

In Hondarribia (2004) there was a case of 14 year-old-boy that killed himself. His name was Jokin Zeberio and he was suffering from bullying every day and he couldn’t stand it any longer. His last words were “Free, free. My eyes will be, even if they stop my feet”.

In conclusion, if we are being bullied or if we know a case like this we should tell an adult about it so that he or she could help them because it could have horrible consequences.

TEENAGERS WITH PROBLEMS IN THE SCHOOL In the school there are a lot of things that disrupt teenagers. For example, problems at home with their parents or with partners. Some teenagers have to bear bulling. Bulling is every act that can intimidate a person in the school. It can be just psychical or even physical. The attackers make the victim do something he or she doesn’t want to do and in the end the victims have always a sad and impossible life.

Teenagers have a very bad time because they have no friends and no auto esteem. They are always afraid of school and partners and even they don’t want to go out from their houses. There is a strong link between bulling and suicide. Bulling provokes suicides every year. People between 15 and 25 years old commit suicide every year because they are bullied. Research indicates that adults and children who bully have personalities that are authoritarian; they have a strong need to control or dominate other people. Bullying can also be done by teachers and the school system. For example, sometimes teachers humiliate abuse or exclude students making them feeling badly and unhappy.

STORIES OF BULLYING

Janet Brown: This girl is 15 years old and she lives in Chicago, USA.

She went to a psychologist because her parents were very worried. She went to another school and she did new friends. Now, she is happy.

Taylor Smith: This boy was 14 years old and he lived in Dublin, Ireland. He wasn’t very good-looking, he was ugly. He was a very good student and he liked reading and studying. He didn’t like playing sports like other people from his class. He was fat and his classmates laughed at him because of his appearance. He went to another school, but he wasn’t happier. He was very sad, nobody respected him and he committed suicide throwing to the space.

Alice Doyle: This girl is 13 years old and she lives in Munich, Germany. She was addicted to computers. She was always playing games and chatting with people in the web. She didn’t go outside and she didn’t have friends at her school. Her classmates laughed at her because they though that she didn’t have a social life. Her parents removed her from the computer and she was very sad, but she had an idea, she called her chat friends and she stayed with them. Now, she has a lot of friends and her classmates don’t laugh at her.

Vitoria-Gasteiz is one of the best cities of Spain dealing with the facilities for handicapped people, but it could be better.

One of the latest changes made are the bins, but now they’re useless because the rubbish men put it half a metre from the sidewalk and it’s difficult for the handicapped people to reach there.

Another important change consists of placing a ramp of the sidewalks; but unfortunately you can only find them in one of the sides of the road which makes it dangerous for them.

In some streets, depending of the person’s disability, some of them can’t pass through some ramps; and so they can’t reach their houses; and that’s why the city council is thinking of putting lifts for them.

Some pubs haven’t adapted their facilities to this situation. If they want to do some working they have also to consider the situation of disable people, installing in the bathrooms, the ramps, and an easier place for them to reach to the tables.

All the houses must have facilities for the handicapped people.

“SaskiBaskonia” (S.A.D.) is nowadays one of the most important clubs in Spain and its name provokes respect in Europe. There is no more conclusive proof of it that its double of the season 2001/02 in which the team won the Cup of the King and the ACB League, or his presence of consecutive form in three Final Four. But to reach these successes the Club has had to give many steps, sometimes small but others huge, from his foundation in 1959.

THE NAME

In that year, when the team appeared for the first time, it was called “Club Deportivo Vasconia”. Little by little, they started bearing. Afterwards, in 1976, they changed the letter V into B. So, their name was “Basconia- Schweppes”. The team has had different names like “Arabatxo Baskonia” “Taugres” and “Tau Ceramica Baskonia”, this last one for many years. Now the official name is “Caja Laboral Baskonia”.

THE TROPHIES In ACB League: They won the season 2001-2002 versus Unicaja and the season 2007-2008 versus Barcelona team.

In King´s Cup: They achieved it in the seasons: -1994-1995 vs. Zaragoza -1998-1999 vs. San Fernando -2001-2002 vs. Barcelona -2003-2004 vs. Joventut -2005-2006 vs. Valencia -2008-2009 vs. Unicaja

In Supercup: They managed four of it: -2005-2006 vs. Granada -2006-2007 vs. Unicaja -2007-2008 vs. Iurbentia -2008-2009 vs. Zaragoza All these trophies mean that it is the best team in the world!

13 Sports

I have supported Baskonia since I was a little girl. My mother invited me to go and I answered nothing because that was new for me, so my mum said that I would like it. I remembered that my first time I saw Baskonia, they were playing versus Barcelona Club and my team won.

I have been to Fernando Buesa Arena Stadium for many times, but I am not a member because my parents said that I have too many out of school activities. I hope that the next year I will be a member of my team.

My favourite players have always been Tiago Splitter and Mirza Teletovic. and Luis Scola. He has left here very good prizes, but he was such a good player, that an NBA team signed him.

This year I have been to my first King´s Cup to Bilbao. We have lost it, but the fans were proud of our team. In spite of the defeat the fans stayed there for more than half an hour cheering the team. Afterwards Baskonia`s players went out of the changing room to thank us. It was fantastic; I would like to repeat this experience!

The situation of this year has been difficult, but the team did not stop wrestling at any moment. This year we can only won the ACB league or if we are lucky the Euroleague. My best wishes for my team BASKONIA!

At the age of five, he entered in his neighbourhood, Grandoli, where his father was his coach. Two years later, he started to play in Newell’s Old Boys’s inferior divisions. His trainer said that the things that he made with the ball were only comparable with Diego Armando Maradona. At the age of eleven the River Plate turned him down, because he had a health problem that stopped him growing. So he travelled to Barcelona, where some relatives were living. He made the trials to sign F.C. Barcelona and he was accepted. The team paid his medicines to grow up, and he started playing in La Masia. Messi made his official debut for the first team in a friendly match against Porto on 16th November 2003; less than a year later, Frank Rijkaard let him make his league debut against Espanyol team on 16 October 2004 becoming the third-youngest player ever playing for Barcelona and the youngest club player who played in the Spanish Professional Football League (a record broken by his team mate Bojan Krkic in September 2007). When he scored his first senior goal for the club against Albacete on 1 May 2005, Messi was seventeen years, 10 months and 7 days old, becoming the youngest ever scoring in the Spanish Professional Football League for Barcelona until 2007 when Bojan Krkic broke this record, scoring the goal with his assistance. Messi said about his ex-coach Rijkaard: "I will never forget that Rijkaard has launched me and gave me confidence when I was only seventeen years old.”

This is our last year at school. One day of September, 1997 we came to Niño Jesús for the first time, and then we did not know that our stay would be so long and so important. Our first teacher was Rosa. In our class, we were 25 children, but with the years some people have been leaving and now we are 20 partners. Since we were children, we have done many excursions. The farm school was our first trip and we learned to be without our parents and also to look after animals. In Alkiza, we stayed for five days and we improved our basque doing funny activities. It was a great experience to make friends and improve our French. We did our study trip in Salou and Barcelona. We were there for three days and visited La Sagrada Familia, the Guell park, Port Aventura and Zaragoza. In those excursions, we have enjoyed ourselves a lot. here are many legends about vampires. However there are real documents that prove the existence of T a true vampire of the seventeenth century: Elizabeth Bathory. She was born in 1560 in one of the wealthiest families in Transylvania. When she was 15 she married the count Ferencz Nasdasdy, who was always out, so her servant, Thorko, introduced her to the occultism. In 1600 Ferencz died. One day while a girl was combing Elizabeth, she hurt her, so Elizabeth squeezed the girl’s hand so hardly that it began to bleed. Her blood fell into Elizabeth’s hand. The moment she felt on her skin a freshness that never really felt so she thought she had discovered the secret of eternal youthful skin. Thorko filled a bath with the girl’s blood and Elizabeth had a bath in it for getting all her body beauty. She continued killing girls for her rituals until one of them escaped. In December 30, 1610, the authorities sought the castle and found the bodies of at least 650 women. She was locked at her house. She died in 1614. There are many connections between the Bathory and the Dracula.

Marquis de Sade (1740-1814), was a French writer. The erotic writings by him gave rise to the term sadism – enjoyment of cruelty. His works have been seen as exploration of sexual and political freedom. On the other hand he was a multiple rapist, torturer and murderer. He married a girl called Renèe, whom he had known two days before. A few days after his marriage, he contracted the services of a prostitute called Jeanne Testard. Some years later he took the services of another prostitute called Rose Keller. He did things like whipping her naked body. After being sentenced to death by poisoning in 1772 fled to Italy. In 1777, alter many orgies with prostitutes he was imprisoned in Vincennes. In prison he wrote many erotic stories. Later he was transferred to the psychiatric de Charenton, where he died in 1814.

22 Music

WE LOVE MUSIC! The music nowadays is very present in our society, because everybody listens to it. It has always existed, for example in Mesopotamia or Egypt they used their music to be in touch with their Gods and Greeks were used to doing the same. The meaning of the music has changed a lot because as I have said before, many years ago the music was joined to the religion and now we can say that there is a different kind of music for each social group. Today there are thirteen music currents: Electronics, punk, rap, hip- hop, jazz, heavy, rock, reggae, alternative, ska, pop, contemporaneous, jazz-fusion , contemporaneous, band sonorous. Now I’m going to tell something about three of them: REGGAE It’s a which was developed in Jamaica in 1960s. It is used to refer to most types of Jamaican music and it has three subgenres: Skinhead Reggae, roots reggae and dancehall.

The people who listen or who perform this kind of music are Rasta men. The word reggae comes from ragamuffin; “harapiento”. This kind of music was associated to the poor neighborhoods of Jamaica, but now everybody around the world is familiar to it. The topics of this music are those which are related with social critics, politics or religion. People identify Reggae to Rastafarians but this is not true because Rastafarians take part in the church services and the others don’t. Bob Marley is the most important Reggae singer. He was born in the north of Jamaica in 1945. When he started singing most people laughed at him because of the color of his skin, but he never listened to them. He took part in some different groups, until he decided to start his solo career alone. At the age of 70 he had already become a very famous singer at recorded when he recorded his most important album; ”Exodus”.

23 Music

Heavy

It’s another music genre, a mixture between rock, blues and classic music. It’s very common to see a man playing a guitar and another one with the drums. This music is played very loudly and also very heavily. All the people who play, sing, or are just fans of this movement, are dressed in a peculiar way. They usually wear black clothes. Their T-Shirts are also black with a picture of their favourite group; their trousers are very tight and made of leather. They do not wear trainers; they are used to wearing boots with a long tip and also with some chains. Men have very long hair to move it like the singers do in their concerts. Another typical thing is to wear chains everywhere hanging from their clothes, to wear lots of bracelets and the body pierced. The tattoos are very important for them and most of them have at least one.

HIP –HOP

The hip-hop music arouse in the late 1960s when the street parties or "block parties" became common in the New York City, especially in the Bronx, because people who lived there couldn’t go to clubs that “rich“ people were used to go, like some areas from the Big Apple, including The Loft and Studio 54.

The street parties were accompanied by funk and soul, until the first DJs began isolating the percussion and extended, as the song became more dancing. This technique was common in Jamaica (in the dub), which led to the Jamaican immigrant community participate in these celebrations. This adaptation of beats later, it was accompanied by another new technique called rapping (singing technique based on rhythm and improvisation). DJ Kool Herc was considered to be the father of hip hop, because with him two of the elements of hip hop were born and developed. He created the "Master of Ceremonies" (abbreviated MC maestro de ceremonias), whose work was presenting the DJ. Slowly, the MC was becoming more important. The Mc started reciting the beats (the hip-hop beats) with very ingenious texts. At the same time, they started dancing them, reserving the best dance for the moment when the singer stops singing, that is to say, they danced when nobody was singing, when there was a break. In

24 Music this way appeared the term B-boy (break-boy), that means "the guy who uses the break” and break-dance movement was born. The hip hop is formed by four important things; MCing (rapping), el DJing (turntablism),breakdancing (bboying) and the graffiti. But apart from these, there are some others like popping, locking or beat box which are less important.

¾ The union of two elements, the MC (Master of ceremony) and DJ (), make musical style of hip hop: rap. ¾ The graffiti’s existed before this culture appeared but those were a symbol against the politic, and weren’t a part of this culture. They started doing graffities in the 70s in New York; they were made by the “writers” and normally were represented with large coloured letters with pseudonyms. Graffities allowed decorating the walls with the name of groups, break dancers, and DJ's or MC's.

¾ The dance bboying is known as break-dancing. A person, who practices this dance, is called bboy or Bgirl. But there is a difference between a bboy and a breaker. The first dances because of cultural issues and because he wants to show us new elements, to raise the level of the dance. The breaker or break-dancer is that one who dances only by profit-making or for fashion issues; this one doesn’t know anything about the culture.

The hip-hop is a way to express their feelings, opinions about the politics, religion... but it has always been criticized because many times their lyrics are about violence, drugs, illegal things and some people considered them offensive. One of the most famous singers of this music around the world is Eminem, and in Spain we can find: “Violadores Del Verso”, “Falsalarma”, “El Chojin”... This is my favourite group of music, because I think that their lyrics are quite good although some of them are a bit rude. They speak about all the topics you can imagine. The group members are Hate (also called Sho Hai) (Sergio Rodríguez, MC), Kase-O (Javat, whose real name is Javier Ibarra), Lírico (David Gilaberte, MC) and R de Rumba (Rubén Cuevas, the DJ and the producer).they have some CD like “Violadores del verso”. “Vicios y virtudes” or “Vivir para contarlo” .

25 Celebrities Nobody is perfect!!!

We think that famous people are perfect but that is false. Everyone is different but we aren't perfect. Everyone has their own mistakes. Most of the girls are worried about their appearance. They want to be like the famous stars. But look at this photographs....do you think that they are perfect?. Some girls want to be like some superstars, but these photos show us how they really are. 29 Film review

New Moon After Twilight comes New Moon the second part of the saga. After the success of Twilight they decided to record other three films. The first film was directed by Catherine Hardwike, and the second one by Chris Weitz. Both movies are based on books by Stephenie Meyer. In New Moon Bella is eighteen and she begins to be afraid of aging. Edward also leaves the city and breaks up with Bella. She spends her time with Jacob while he falls in love with her and in the meantime, he turns into a werewolf. Kristen Stewart plays the naive Bella who is in love with Edward. After he leaves her she becomes addicted to adrenaline doing dangerous actions as she remembers Edward. Robert Pattinson plays the vampire Edward who leaves the city. Taylor Lautner plays Jacob a member of a Native American group. He spends his time helping Bella while he falls in love with her. He also discovers that he is turning into a werewolf, a natural enemy of vampires and he goes with the “Walk pack” looking for the vamp who wants to kill Bella, Victoria.

I would say that this film is romantic because the love triangle between Bella, Edward and Jacob is the main theme. In my opinion, the film is good but I do not like the end because they make a question and they do not give the answer so you have to wait for another movie. The soundtrack is brilliant especially if you like slow music. I strongly recommend you to see this film. If you want to contribute, you can send your review to our magazine next number.

When there are problems you try to share and discuss them together. You give presents and you hope to receive them, but if not, you don’t care about it, you rely on him. Continue like that! Most of the answers “B” You are quite well together, but you have to improve some details. You should trust your partner and comment the problems you have, because he can help you with them. When he does something wrong you should ask him the reasons of it and not to misjudge him until he tells you anything. Most of the answers “C” You could do it really better. You do not trust each other, and that is a serious problem because in a couple the most important thing is the confidence. You do not show your feelings very well because you sometimes are cold. You get really angry when he does something or he forgets an important date for you. You should listen to him and you will see that he will tell you more things and that soon, you will get better together. Try it!
