December, 2017 Join us at the next club meeting, January 21, 3:00pm at Landmark Ford in Tualatin. Merry Christmas to All

Celebrate the season with family and friends ! 2

…. and we did a little celebrating with our Shelby family at the Christmas Banquet. Lots of laughs and stories, and a 220 mph Shelby made for an entertaining event. Most folks went home with a nice Shelby themed goody or two, and ten lucky folks went home with an opportunity to be driving a new car next fall !

These were the best parts of the evening. Good friends, great raf- fle items and Sean and Wyatt talking about their time at the Texas Mile. (oh and the food was good too :) 3

These are the owners of ten tickets that could make one of them the next winner of the Shelby American Collection museums’ GT350 give-a-way. The question asked before this photo was “whose gonna win !” Fun! Good luck to all. (but I’ll give rides next September in my new Electric Blue GT350. editor :)

Phil Henny and his wife sharing Shelby American history with lucky fellow table members. Most know that Phil worked at Shelby during the mid sixties as a fabricator and mechanic, including Le Manns.

Ann’s raffle prize brought an in- credibly fun moment for me. As I carried this poster of the 1967 Le Mans winning GT40 MKIV back to my table, Phil said “that’s my car!” What? He repeated “That’s my car. In 67 I was on a three man crew that built, prepped and supported that car at Le Mans.” He‘s riding on the car as it drove to victory lane . Yes, Yes , Please sign it ! How awesome, thanks Phil! It will have a special place at home. I hope you all have a chance to meet and talk with Phil some time. He is still building cars today, and has many interests. 8

Earlier this year A.J. Foyt, and Edsel Ford II share a fun moment with a very special MKIV at a cele- bration of the 50th anniversary of the epic 1967 win at Le Mans.

Here is the team getting their vic- tory ride. Phil is waving on the right. 9

We want to thank the sponsors of our raffle items at the banquet! They donated and/or supplied the items we were able to gift to the winners. Skyline Ford - Salem, Or Newburg Ford - Newburg, Or Shelby American Collection in Boulder, Co Shelby American and Team Shelby - Las Vegas, Nv And many members of SAACNW.

Also thanks to my extra photographers during the banquet, Ann Clack and Bill Meloy.

The Ford Racing team finished the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship in sec- ond place in the teams’ standings with the #67 Ford GT and third place in the drivers’ championship with and Harry Tincknell. Despite entering the season finale with a fighting chance of winning the driver’s title, it slipped out of reach during today’s six-hour race in Bahrain, although the British duo in the #67 Ford GT grabbed a podium place when Priaulx passed Porsche’s Makowiecki in the final hour for third place. (Credits to for pics and write-up) Ed: The cars finished 3rd and 5th and and were competitive all day, but both drivers and team man- ager mentioned that they just didn’t have the pace of the Ferraris.. So what will Ford do with their cars to make them a bit faster next season? We’ll have to wait and see. NEED MORE SPEED ! Sounds like every drivers comment :)

Cool photo. Colors makes it looks like they are running on sand. The race was in Bahrain, after all !! Fun internet stuff to check out. 12
