Along with Istanbul, Antalya is the most popular region in Turkey. She is the pearl of the Turkish Riviera - an exciting major city, and at the same time a paradise for swimmers. Today, Antalya is a mixture of a modern metropolis and an old-fashioned small town. In Kaleiçi, the visitor will experience the original Antalya. It is an oasis with its small mosques and its muddle of both renovated and ramshackle Ottoman wooden houses from the turn of the century. In the harbor, Yat Liman, there is a multitude of cozy small cafés and bars where you can sit down and relax as you enjoy the boat life in the bay nearby.

There is so must so see in Antalya for every age and every taste. Those who are interested in history there are plenty of historical sites to explore like Hadrianus Triumphal Arch, Hierapolis and Yivli Minareli. For family with children there is the aqua park called Troy Aqua and Dolphinarium or why not explore the sea life at Antalya Aquarium? There are also many exciting places outside Antalya to discover like Side and Belek. All you need to do is to find your favorite attractions.

The Museum also contains a collection of folk costumes and very beautiful rugs.

This famous theatre—the only theatre that dates back to ancient days and still has an intact scene construction—is located about 12 miles east of Antalya. Aspendos had a capacity of 20.000 spectators and survived because the “Seldjuks” used it as a residence.

In the 1920s, Kemal Atatürk, the “father” of the Turks, decided that the theatre should be renovated. Today, Aspendos is used for major musical arrangements. An excursion bus or “dolmus” is the best way to get there. Address: Aspendos, Antalya

Side

Side, between Antalya and Alanya, is one of the innumerable places where Cleopatra and Markus Antonius had a rendezvous. At almost every street corner, you stumble over ruins. The theatre, which has a capacity of 25.000 persons, is located on a plain piece of land and is supported by strong walls. The Roman bath next to the theatre is a very beautiful archaeological museum. Take the local bus. Address: Side

Boat trip to Phaselis

Visit the ruins of Phaselis and its gorgeous beaches. This ancient Lycian city is on the outskirts of Kemer town and it is reached by road or sea. Once ruled by Alexander the Great, Phaselis was an important trading point and this is evident in the ruins of the main market street stretching from one harbor to another. Remains also include the amphitheater and houses. If ancient ruins are not your idea of fun, pack a picnic and spend the day lying on two gorgeous beaches.

Burning Flames

Steeped in mystery and intrigue, the burning flames of Chimaera are near the resort of Cirali. Flames burn from rocks for 24 hours a day and in ancient times, they provided light to ships fearful of crashing on rocks. Simple science explains this natural wonder. Gases oozing from cracks in the rocks ignite with air causing flames to burn every day, all day no matter how many times they are extinguished.

15

Olympos

Ancient Lycian ruins, an isolated Mediterranean beach, accommodation in treehouses and flames that mysteriously burn from the side of a mountain are some of the attractions of Olympos (Olimpos) in Turkey's south. The modern "village" is named after the Lycian/Roman city that now lies in ruins on the beach, which in turn is named after nearby Mt. Tahtalı, the highest mountain of the vicinity and, along with some other 20-odd noticeably high mountains in northeastern Mediterranean basin, known as Olympos in antiquity.

Aspendos

Aspendos is in the Belek region of Antalya and home to a well preserved Roman theatre. Every year between June and July, it plays host to the Aspendos Ballet and Opera Festival. Tickets for this event sell out quick so buy early if you want to attend.

Duden Waterfalls

Near the resort of Side is Manavgat waterfalls. They are not the highest in the region but this is a great place to spend the day relaxing. Tea gardens provide refreshments and souvenir shops are open all the time. If Manavagt waterfall fails to delight you, head to the bigger display of Duden waterfalls within the city of Antalya.

16

Kaleiçi

Known as Kaleici, the old town of Antalya has retained much of its original appearance. Stroll down narrow cobbled streets and absorb the atmosphere and vibes. This is a great place to find small art galleries and specialist boutiques while admiring ancient Ottoman architecture.

Atatürk’s House Museum

Atatürk visited Antalya on three occasions, and in his first visit on 6 March 1930, he looked at the Vista of snow-capped Beydağları Mountains over the beach and sea from Erenkuş locality on the Lara Road, and said, “Without a doubt Antalya is the most beautiful place on earth”. Visitors to Antalya today share Atatürk’s feelings and thoughts, considering it a unique place where nature and cultural heritage merge.

The mansion dedicated to Atatürk to stay during his visits has been converted into a museum to commemorate his visits. The two-storey rectangular planned mansion serves the public as the Atatürk’s House Museum since 1986. On the ground floor there is an exhibition of photographic records of Atatürk’s visits to Antalya, a room equipped for audio-visual presentation of documentaries regarding Atatürk and Antalya, a dining hall and a bureau. On the upper floor there is a room where the personal belongings of Atatürk are on display. There are also meeting and study rooms and a bedroom as well as a special section where memorial coins and banknotes are on display.

Named by the Great National Leader Ataturk after the Hittite Civilization, which began mining activities in the world as far back as 6,000 BC living and excelling at mining on the bountiful lands of Anatolia, Eti Maden has entered its 76th year of operations.

Etibank was established with a capital of 20 million Turkish Lira on the 14th of June 1935, in the aftermath of the global financial crisis and the Turkish War of Liberation of the early 1900’s as a drive of modern industrialization that brought together natural resources and the concept of finance. The company was restructured on 1/5/1998 as Eti Holding Inc. and later became Eti Maden General Directorate on 31/1/2004. The company has a capital of 100 million TL as of the end of 2010.

Eti Maden is designated by parliamentary decree to make the best use of Turkey’s natural resources and to provide the highest benefit to the Turkish economy. True to its original mission, the company has successfuly mined boron ore that is one of Turkey’s most important mineral resources and has transformed it into high added value boron products to become the leader in the global boron market.
