The position This role works within the small Design team at the Gallery and is key in providing support to Senior Designers, by organising preparatory work for the design of exhibition layouts.

To be successful in this position, you will have experience in delivering both two and three-dimensional designs, with an emphasis on experience in producing to high , or similar, standards. You will be accustomed to working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to successfully present exhibitions. You will also have sound project management skills, be experienced in administrative duties and budgetary requirements.

This is a full-time, ongoing employment opportunity available in the Exhibitions Design Department within the broader Exhibitions and Collections Portfolio.

Overview This position works in the Exhibition Design Department of the Gallery’s Exhibitions and Collections Portfolio, which is responsible for the design of exhibition layouts, display infrastructure and fittings, lighting design, exhibition graphics and promotional material.

Duty Statement: 1. Undertake exhibition design and planning including the preparation of specifications, documentation for tendering, arranging quotes, prepare time and cost estimates and plans and budgets for exhibition display resources for the permanent , temporary and travelling exhibitions and public displays for the National Gallery of Australia.

2. With limited guidance, oversee the operation of specific exhibition projects and monitor work flows to achieve the sections strategic objectives and deadlines.

3. Participate as a member of the exhibition project team and provide advice on design matters as required.

4. Assist with the preparation of reports as required by the executive management team.

5. Ensure effective liaison with staff at all levels, external stakeholdersand other relevant organisations to meet Gallery objectives.

6. Liaise with and supervise external contractors and consultants undertaking tasks associated with exhibition design and production.

7. Other duties as required commensurate with your skills and abilities

Selection Criteria: 1. A degree or associateship in Industrial, , or a related discipline with experience in Vector Works, In Design and Photoshop or similar programs.

2. A proven ability to design and deliver exhibitions to museological standards (or similar) with an emphasis in delivering both two and three-dimensional design.

3. Demonstrated skills and experience in the management of exhibition design projects and in the participation of exhibition project teams.

4. Highly developed oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to liaise effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels, including contractors, for the successful presentation of exhibitions.

5. Experience in budgetary control, project management skills, meeting deadlines, prioritising, administrative experience in relation to technology and practices of a national art museum or similar institution.

Qualifications, Certifications and Registrations • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Industrial, Interior Design, Architecture or a related discipline is essential or equivalent relevant work experience.
